I have a 2014 Prius Plug-in Advanced with the Technology package. I really like the pre-collision alert system. The issue that I have is that the 'beep' warning is not very loud. Does anyone know if there is a way to increase its volume? It is almost background noise when it should really be blaringly loud!!!

    Thanks,

    Phil

Don't know of any way to increase the volume, but unless you have all the windows open and the radio cranked it seems loud enough to me... as well that flashing BRAKE warning that rxlawdude mentioned does catch your attention.

Mine goes off every time I go down a steep hill in my village with a flat intersection at the bottom. The car thinks it's approaching an obstacle. Owners manual warns about this.

It seems pretty loud to me, but then again the only time I've heard it is in city driving - less tire and wheel noise since the speeds are lower than highway driving.

I wonder if it is something that is going on with my particular car. I can hear it but it is not blaringly loud...not by any means...almost like background noise. I will ask the dealer but I suspect that this level of question is beyond them.

You are right...the flashing BRAKE is the dead give away and it does come on. But, at least in my car, it is just not loud enough.

One more question...anyway to force it to come on? I would like to be able to demo this to the dealer without having to get too close to another car...;).

    Thanks everyone for the assist!

I'd think in the Service Manual, there would be a way to confirm the display and beep is working.

I don't have access to the service manual...does anyone know the procedure?

    Thanks,

    Phil

Same here, but it was like $6,000 more than the Basic.
