moonroof can be added at a price, and a mpg hit. at least there was discussion of someone doing moonroof installs.

0-60 in just under the time it takes to reach the top of the onramp is fun too

push the dealer, southeast toyota doesn't want to distribute package 8s for some reason, ask them to trade with another dealer and see what you can get. good luck!

News flash: It takes WAY more than 250hp to get a 3400lb sedan to 60mph in "just over 4 seconds". I'm quite familiar with the car, having bought my sister a 2006 GT Limited a few weeks ago as a gift.

The Legacy GT Limited runs 0-60 in the low-fives, which is a long way from "just over 4 seconds" (Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo territory).

You must've been on some good drugs when you imagined that.

 

Jennjay - First, have you confirmed that you NEED to put premium fuel into your Subaru? Probably not and you will save money while you wait or until you decide to purchase a Prius.

The whole reason you buy a car like a Subaru Legacy GT Limited and live with its crappy mileage is for the ability to tap into that 250hp and 250 lbs-ft of torque with your right foot at any time. Without premium fuel, the engine management computer will retard the timing so much that you will lose a lot of that power. So it seems pretty dumb to put regular fuel in the car and eliminate its #1 most desirable feature, which was probably the whole reason you bought it in the first place.

I use to own a 2004 Forester XT 5speed. I believe it's actually slightly faster than the Legacy GT due to the insanely low gearing, but it didn't handle as well. That car was a lot of fun to drive, but I traded it in for a 2002 Toyota Sequoia. Believe it or not, the fullsize Toyota Sequoia is actually CHEAPER to drive than my 2004 Forester was. I was getting about 16-18 MPG around town using premium fuel. Yes, premium is required because Subaru uses a highly turbocharged engine. The higher octane of premium prevents engine knocking with the higher engine temps on an turbo. Not only was the Forester bad on gas, it was bad for me too! My blood pressure was high and I always was driving too fast. Getting a Prius will be better for the environment and your health.

I read elsewhere that adding heated seats is quite easy if you are doing aftermarket leather seats. Check it out.

 

Congrats. We are a two prius family. Came from a Honda Civic and a Ford F250. Heated seats were nice but since we have a garage I do not miss them all that much.

 

Congrats! We bought our 2nd Prius 3 weeks ago. We now have a 2006 Black with pkg. 1 & just got a 2008 with pkg. 2 and Toyota leather interior installed by the dlr. Way to go!

 

The ac doesnt take much from your average. it's all in the driving brother. I get 50.3 usually but have seen 53 when I was driving like it. Im usually on I-4 so 45-55 mph isnt possible. The little car is capable of a lot more!

 

Yes its all about driving technique, I also notice very little impact from AC use as I take the highway about 75 % of the time. The AC will kill you in constant stop and go driving though.

As far as two Prius family, I wish we were a 2 Prius Family. Not because of gas mileage though, but because my wife's VW Beetle 1.8T is a POS. I am so sick of working on that car with a minor problem one month and a major the next. At least the positive side of me is thankful that since I like to dig in and do a lot of my own car work that I have had the opportunity to learn a lot about VW 1.8t engines.

 

Most of our driving is city driving. We just drive the Prius's for maximum milege. Tire pressure is very important as is driving the car. We keep 42 lbs. in the front tires & 40 lbs. in the rears. Also, we brake or coast to red lights & stop signs well in advance.

We average 50 MPG or so @ 70 MPH on the highway & use the cruise control both in town and on the hwy. I think the cruise is a big help. Do you use the cruise control often?
