I'm surprised I haven't seen anything here about the problem of the sun visors being so short when they're turned around to the side windows.

Every day going South to work and North coming home the sun bores right into my eyes through that 3 or 4 inches between the end of the visor and the door pillar. I've tried green plastic clip in visors, stick on screens, etc., etc., but nothing that works well. The visors in my last car had an extension that slid out of the visor to cover that space.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a good solution?

An inelegant but workable solution would be to take some fairly stiff but flexible material and make a sleeve around the visor. When you move the visor to the side, you can extend the sleeve. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the vanity mirror unless the backside of the sleeve has a cutout for it.
    Some suggestions for materials:
    1. A piece of the light and flexible plastic sheeting you can get at big hardware stores.
    2. Indoor/outdoor carpeting in an appropriate color. The carpeting would be too thick to permit locking the visor into the clip, so you would have to fashion a thin connecting piece between the front and back sides of the sleeve in order to snap the visor into the little clip.
    3. Very thin poster board, about twice the thickness of typing paper.

You might also be able to fashion a piece that would fit on the top edge of the window glass; lower the window slightly, insert the piece, close the window.
I've had the same problem from time to time, but my normal work routes don't have my car at right angles to rising or setting sun.
    Good luck,
    Bob

It was a while back, but when I was having body work done on my Prius (some jackass keyed it... a lot... and DEEP  ) I had rented a 4Runner so I could do a lot of hauling in and out of my storage unit I wasn't really able to do with the Prius. The visors in there had an extension that flipped DOWN and a slider that came out...

Wouldn't it be possible to have 4Runner visors put in the Prius? It IS all Toyota...

The way I've solved this problem is with a knit skicap- pulled low on the offending side. It is a little warm and funky, but relieves the sun in your eyes and the sunburning of your left temple.

Problem for me, too. I'll be buying a set of Toyota visors and mounting them in the Prius. Don't know yet which model I'll glean them from.

I think it's a common problem. I made one from stuff at home. Here's a video on how to do it:
Being 6'4" I need to put my driver seat all the way back. Then the sun whacks me from the side during the morning and afternoon. The sun-visor only blocks 70% of the area where the sun cooks me, so I made a visor that I've used for the past 7 years that works great. Here is a video on how to make the visor extension:

I just ordered a sheet of this --

Should be enough to do both vizors on both cars with plenty left for other projects, like a sun shield for the MFD maybe.
