I've had my 2005 prius for almost a year and am very happy with it. gets great gas mileage, carries a ton of stuff if needed and worked great thru a Maine winter on standard tires,
the one complaint I have is that the driver's door wont stay open even on the flat, Keeps swinging shut on my legs. does anyone know the name of the part that is supposed to keep it open and how hard it is to replace. Seems it would be quite simple but are there any tricks to installing it? This should make my car perfect if I can fix it

I'd like to bump this. I'm having the same issue with my driver's door. I thought about putting in a steel spring through one of the pins but do not know if that'll really work. Probably would be a pain to do too.
I'd love to get whatever part replaced so the door will stay open.

^^^ 'nuff said. no reason for your door to close on the flat, or even a small incline if it's in good condition.
