Prius v MSRP discounts - here to stay?

The 2016s are coming out and this will represent a new series. Not all the cars are expected by the end of the year. The Plug-in will not come back for another year. The V has already had a face lift and I believe will not change initially with the first 2016s. But in general a lot of people are awaiting the new cars and consequently Toyota has to move the cars. The V while really large inside does not get the mileage that most people associate with the Prius. At 40 to 42 it is better than most. The new Prius is expected to get close to 55 mpg. It remains to be seen. But yes, I suspect that Toyota is going to move metal as much as they can. Once the new cars are out any remaining should be discounted even more. My 2 cents.

if you want what you want, probably should pull the trigger in the near future. if you'll take what you can get, the deals might get a little better as we get closer to the redesign.

If gas prices rise so will the price of the car. Saving a bit of money over the life of the car isn't worth it if you don't buy exactly what you want.

The best time to buy a car is when you find what you want at a fair price.

Promotions run as long as they are needed to draw down inventory. They can be here today, gone tomorrow, or better next week.

In November and December 2014, 2014 v models saw great discounts (6200.00 to 6300.00 with no negotiation) as the new "face" and "butt" of the 2015 v approached. No other significant changes in the model year occurred at that time (relatively same interior, same trannie and engine,....

oh,,,, a v four model ?...big deal).

Essentially, I waited until I saw the '15 v specs and decided to buy a new '14. No regrets--saved thousands of dollars. Specified the model and colors I wanted, and a local dealer fetched it for me. Everything was accomplished by email. And the color choice I selected is somewhat rare in my area, so personal re-sell should be a fairly simple task.

I suspect this may be the case for the '15 model, with one caveat: there's likely bigger improvements on tap for the '16 model. So, if you're wanting the new battery pack option, an increase in claimed MPG, or looking for other "significant" model-year improvements (which increase consumer costs), you may wish to wait until you review Toyota's official 2016 v features,

Then, act rather swiftly if you decide that a discounted '15 is for you. In any event, the '15 discounts will be there.
