I did consider that maybe the home owners association could have towed it. But they only do that when you park in a spot which isn't yours or you don't pay their fee I believe. Which we of course did and if it really was towed then I believe whenever she filed a report with the police they would have had some alert about this?

Exactly why I find it so astonishing that they would do that. One because we are parked pretty much right next to the units so any truck would be sure to wake everyone up (I know they always do to me) and secondly there are much more high prices cars around where the people that park there live in the back and have no way of seeing there. So surely they must have seen the car parked there and never moving and decided to play their luck that people would believe it is just some repo man or would just not give a darn about it. Never has their ever been any reports of even a burglary in our neighborhood. So this is definitely a first.

I'm not sure if she has. I'll definitely tell her. But the home owners association here is a joke. All they care about is their money and they don't provide anything for the residents. Everything here is corrupted and broken. It's such a shame used to be #1 around these parts. I've lived here since I was very little.

...it used to be rare for Prius to be stolen. I am not sure the current statistics, but we know in California a few are being broken into to steal the Gen3 hybrid batteries.

Contact the HOA....it could very well be sitting in a towing companies impound lot.

There's more arguing over fault than ideas on how the car could have been stolen. Sorry, but thread closed!
