I usually try to search through other forums first, but some of the talk is a little too technical at my level.. So here is the scoop.... and sorry for too much verbiage.

2007 Prius: While driving down the highway, the triangle of death appeared, with ABS lights, yellow indicator, and check engine light. I guess any light could come on, did. And there was no charge on the screen for the battery. I noticed of late, that I was having trouble putting the car in drive, and would put it in reverse, and then in drive. A day before, the exhaust fan in the back seat started to blow really hard. Some people have told me that was a sign of battery failure as well.

After doing some research, I have the following questions, if anyone can help.

    1. will be taking it in for confirmation, but could this be something other than the HV battery?
    2. I just missed the 100,000 warrantee break, but understand that in some states, emissions allow 165K.Does this apply to North Carolina, and where can I get this information?
    3. I heard that Toyota, has a compassionate assistance program, to help pay for the costs. Any knowledge of this?
    4. My brother thinks that if I buy a battery pack, he could put it in. Anyone have experience with this?
    5. What about used/reconditioned battery packs? Costs and longevity.

    Well, on to UTUBE...

    Thanks much!!

If it's the battery, you likely will get it covered for free, you are right outside the coverage. Ask for a goodwill warranty from Toyota hq

Yes even if you're the 2nd owner. Chances are they'll fully cover it, there is a chance they'll cover part of it...at half coverage, it'll been around $1600-$1800

Thanks. How would I go about this? Do I need to go to the dealer first for a confirmation. Could I get it confirmed from a auto shop who specializes in Toyota/Prius repair.. Or could I just call Toyota first as an initial inquiry.

Had a feeling that was the case. Too bad, I should have bought a prius when I lived in San Diego.
    Thanks much for your response;)

You can still bring it to dealer for diagnosis and get possible warranty coverage from Toyota.
Buying in San Diego actually has no impact on the case, just matters if where you have it registered now is CARB.

You want to get the diagnosis and then hold while you decide what you want to do.

This one? It is a good service to the community that you made this video.
However, one thing we are now seeing is if you contact Toyota after the dealer diagnosis, sometimes you can get nice out-of-warranty assistance from Toyota. But you have to manage that communication with Toyota if the dealer does not do so on your behalf.

Yep that's me over 3 years ago. Not doing it anymore. Haven't made any kind of videos lately. Maybe soon I'll get the itch to video something.
