With the car off and me standing at rear hatch and it is raised I pushed the latch closed manually and I cant figure our how to release it back to the unlatched position. I tried the door locks to no avail.
as an aside I was doing this to troubleshoot why my alarm is going off alot. I have a relative new yellowtop battery installed and will replace the fob battery later.

Just use the hatch opening handle on the hatch. The latch will go to the open position.

thanks fellas hatch is again operational, while troubleshooting my alarm I removed the 10 amp horn fuse to buy me some time, oddly the alarm tripped and can you believe it, a horn sounded!
Is there a second horn dedidicated to the alarm system?
The fuse I pulled is on the block, right side 3rd one down....
