I've been having issues with my ice>Link iPod adapter where it locks up about once a week, requiring it to be disconnected and reconnected to reset it. It's probably happened 10 times or more in the past 3 months, but it's actually in my wife's Prius, and she knows how to reset it, so it hasn't been a real high priority for me to look into a fix.

Well, I finally got around to submitting a support ticket to Dension and they sent me back an email with a phone number for me to call. When I called them, they told me that it was a known problem with certain Prius radios and that a firmware update will be posted on their website within a month, probably in the next two weeks or so. I'm not sure exactly why they didn't just tell me this in an email, but it was rather nice to actually talk to someone about the problem.

So, anyone else with the problem I've been having should check Dension USA's support web site in a couple of weeks.

Anyone know if by any chance they have come up with a version that's compatible with the NAV-equipped '06 Prius? Previous threads have indicated that they were at work on it.

I didn't ask them about that.

But, if you are willing to spend an extra $100 more, you could get the VAIS one that will emulate a CD-Changer or an MD-Changer (minidisk). From what I've read, the Prius radio will accept both a CD-Changer and an MD-Changer to be simultaneously present, so this one works with NAV equiped Priuses.

(I'm not guarenteeing this information, so do your own research on it)

...Except I already have an Ice>Link Plus in my current car. I'm planning on moving that to my Prius if at all possible (special ordering the different cable from Dension and having them update the firmware on the actual unit).

Although I've only had the adapter installed for a day now, I've already experienced this problem. I'll be watching this topic with interest! Is there reason to call Dension to give them another data point, or do you think that is unnecessary at this point, Marlin? (By the way, mine is an '05, Package #4. No nav, obviously...)

Just how is that firmware supposed to be loaded anyhow? I don't think I have a cable that will connect it to my laptop... hmmm

Well, I haven't seen the firmware update show up on their website yet. I'll give them another week or so, and then send them another support question.

However, my understanding of how they do firmware updates is that you download a "song" onto your iPod that really isn't a song, but an encoded firmware update file. If you then select the "Update ice>Link" option from the ice>Link menu, it finds the "song", extracts the firmware, and does the update. It's something along those lines.

Wow, thats a pretty creative solution, if it works. For the count, I've now had the little "problem" occur twice in three days, so the update is looking good. It doesn't seem to be a really big deal, just annoying.

We just got our Prius and asked the local sound installer about an iPod controller. They mentioned that the Ice>Link doesn't work with the Nav system, but that the firmware update to fix this is due out in a month.

You could always look into the alternatives too. the VAIS Soundlinq is an option, albeit a more expensive one. I think it is supposed to work with the NAV already.

Danny and I have confirmed with Dension that the new DICE will work with all models, including NAV and the 2006 models.

I saw the new DICE model at their site yesterday. However, I didn't see an ETA. Do you know when that model will be available?
