What do you use (or what do you think is best) for cleaning all those nasty fingerprints off the multi-function screen? Anything special or a Windex-type of cleaner?

I use the cloth and spray that's for my LCD monitor.

Do you happen to remember what it's called? Something that could be picked up at a Staples or Office Depot?

I don't see the spray right now, but I got it at CompUSA. You can probably something similar at Staples or Office Depot. If you do get that type, remember to spray on to the cloth and not directly onto the screen.

You can also get a screen protector which should be easier to clean (as well as protect).

I use the pre-moistened cleaner wipes for glasses - got a box of them at Costco and they work great for cleaning the screen (as well as my glasses) :p

A dry microfiber cloth that is glass-specific. Sucks the prints right off, and won't scratch.

On top of that, I have also added a screen protector that really DOES eliminate most prints before they even happen.

    Darell,

Screen protector sounds like a good present for my Prius as it approaches its 1 month birthday!

What screen protector do you use and where did you purchase? Any drawbacks?

    Thanks,

    john

Sigma Automotive sells screen protectors, but I used to have one from ScreenPatronus. I had it for only one day, but it was my fault and not the protector's. I never could get it to fit quite to my liking; there was always some air bubble or piece of dirt that has to be removed. Also, when I wore my polarized sunglasses I had a rainbow on the screen. I just gave up too quickly.

My almost-13-year-old son has a cleaning cloth for the display on his GameBoy that works great for cleaning the display (just remember to use the display off feature first to avoid pressing buttons if the car is on).

    $1.99 at EB Games.

Same stuff used for glasses. Microfiber cloth and a 50/50 water/alcohol solution. Spray it on the cloth, not the screen.

The one I use, with a red label on a white plastic pump bottle (4 oz.), simply says "Staples Screen Cleaning Fluid". It lists ingredients as water and 2-Butoxyethanol.

I use the spray and cloths for cleaning eyeglasses that I got from my optometrist.

I follow that up with a bit of RainX, which tends to repel the oils on your finger when touched. That causes the oils to stay on your finger instead of the screen.

I just use a Meguire's microfiber cloth to wipe down the mfd screen and the slick parts of the cockpit area when I have the car or mfd powered off. Works just fine getting fingerprints off, no sprays or liquids necessary.
