    Hi All,

Richard here in Wyoming. Bought a 2015 Prius Three in late May.

I drive a paltry 1/3rd of a mile from work and back plus jaunting around our small town on errands and the like.

I am looking forward to vacations where I'll be driving around 5 to 8 hours at a time.

I have been reading a bit on the forum. Thank-you all for posting your experiences, tips, and advice.

I'm not a kid anymore and do not mind at all driving a bit slower and safer, so I'm anticipating leisurely drives on the highways to points of interest. First trip will be to Rapid City, South Dakota: taking Mother-In-Law and Sweetie for a short two-night stay to see the sights.

Anything at all you'd like to pass my way, please feel free to do so.

    Thanks :)

Welcome aboard and first and foremost, enjoy the ride! Don't obsess over the fuel economy like I did in the first month or so.

Just an observation, why are people bothering to point out that they bought a Prius Two, Prius Three, Prius Four and then adding the additional caveat not II, not III, not IV ?

The addition of the caveat kind of ruins any convenience of just putting down what you own.

I mean I blame Toyota for making the trim designations as complicated as possible considering they are actually only using numbers, but if you put down the year of your Prius, then Two, Three, Four or Five, nothing else is really needed, unless you specifically have a 2010, in which case I guess it's kosher to use II, III, IV...but even then across the board, if you should happen to say I own a 2010 Prius Two, or 2, or II would anyone "not get it"? And vice versa.

I just don't get this recent trend of exclaiming I got a Prius "X" not a "Y". If you say what you have, we don't really need to know what you don't have.

Don't mean to jump on this Poster. -Congratulations and Enjoy.

Just I've noticed this trend and I don't get it.

Electric Me, I made a typo, the model # is Three. The typo was my fault entirely, and I changed it in my opening post. I guess I was a tad excited just to say "hi."

You don't own a III, you own a Three because it is not a 2010. 2010 used uppercase Roman numerals for model designation. 2011 on went with Two, Three etc.

To put an end to it for electrics sake, I changed it so people know and hopefully learn what they own regarding the crap storm Toyota created.

Irregardless, congrats on your Prius purchase, enjoy it and the mpg's you'll get. Except during those paltry 1/3 mile commutes, any gas car will suck on short commutes like that.

Mark, thanks for the clarification :) I did have to phone the dealership early this morning to ask what model I owned. Sales person was not in yet, so I asked someone in service. They did not know about the subset of "models" so we all learned something. Very coincidentally, the owner of the dealership happened across me this morning (I work in a grocery store), and I told him I had reason to call the shop today. He asked if all was well, and I said yes. Told him I needed to know the model. He paused and said he thought that models such as "four" and "five" exist. I asked him what is the difference. He told me the larger the number equates to more "extras" (my lingo not his).

So thanks so much, again, for explaining things to me.

The car seems great. I find much peace with the least amount of information possible on the dashboard. I guess there's 3 or 4 displays one can view. Mine has miles per hour, a sliding bar to indicate miles per gallon and little else. The more advanced displays were making me crazy with info I did not want.

I know the reason there is a difference.
Just don't get this recent trend of people coming in with a post 2010 Prius, and actually pointing out the difference. IMO just say, what you have and leave it at that.

Even if you "accidentally" said, I have a 2015 Prius III, would that be the end of the world? I think most of us could figure it out.

I blame Toyota for creating the extra layer of difficulty.

To the OP...not meant as a shot at you, I've just noticed this more and more in a lot of different threads.
    Sorry to hijack your thread.

I'll go back now to worrying about bigger things.
