Went to start the 2012 plugin I had and got nothing no dash lights etc. Then put it on a trickle charger and got some indication that it was taking a charge. Dome light would light but definitely weak. Tried pushing power button after three to four hours and a little flickering of the orange triangle then nothing.

Can I assume my 12 v battery went dead. What would be the cause didn't see any lights on or think I left it running. Is it going to come back in the morning being charged. Purchased in dec 2012.

Went out gave me some dash indications for 4 seconds then went to a check engine light will leave it charging all night. Nothing is on back latch closed

Jump started it and took it to dealer. He says it is still under warranty. I'll let you know what they find

Took into dealer battery needed replacement covered under warranty

Cost me nothing I think receipt for warranty work was 159.Now I have to reset date and time and for info I had my kW use on since beginning and fuel saved on that one display. Lost all that any way to get that back or is it gone forever ? Had about a 36% ev for live of car from what I remember. Trip from ny brought it down a bunch this year used to be about 45 ev before trip.
Love the car. I averaged 47 mpg trip to Florida with cruise set at 75 for most of trip. 77 mpg avg on all miles have 27000 miles on it so far.

gone. it's still in the 'black box', but that requires toyota's supercomputer.Merged back to back posts, again, bisco.what state are you in? and can you tell us the name of the dealer, that was a very nice service they gave you. not only that, but if $159. is what they charge for a new battery, it's way below any price i've heard before.

North way Toyota in Latham ny. It could have been 259. I'm starting to lose it. I'll have to get data from them when I take it in for 30000 service.

Heat. Best killer of any battery. AGM batteries are prone to positive material expansion that leads to shedding when contracting and the separator has not been compressed enough against the positive material. The hotter it is the more expansion takes place. They also suffer from dendritic growths.

Our garage is like a microwave in the summer. Sun beating down on it ... then you throw a warm car in there? That's why I park under our pigmy palms most of the time.

ours is probably 10-15 degrees cooler than outside. there's a room above, and i think a little a/c leaks through the two connected walls. at least the sun isn't beating on the car.

I have a question about this battery too. I purchased the Solar BA5 tester to test our 12V accessory battery. What type of battery do we have? is it a conventional SLI flooded battery or a Traditionally shaped AGM battery? I have a 2012 plug in. When testing with the BA5 tester it read 466 CCA (The battery itself says it only has 325 cca) So I am thinking it is a AGM battery.

Also Interstate batteries said they would not sell me this battery and I had to go through the dealer to purchase the optima brand.
