Hey guys, nothing bad to report, but I found this a little interesting. If I have my key fob and cellphone in the same pocket I can open up the car with no issue by walking up to the vehicle, but when I try to start the vehicle the digital dash says " No Key Detected ". When I separate the key fob from the cell phone then the car can detect the key fob. (if I remove the fob out of my pocket and leave the phone or if I remove the phone and leave the fob it will detect the key and I'm able to start the vehicle). This is no big deal to me I just find it interesting. I'm just curious if this also effects any of you?

I've noticed this, but it seems to be more if the fob is on the outside of my phone with the buttons facing outward I get better reception. If my fob falls behind my phone in my pocket, the extra thickness/density of the device keeps my prius from picking up on it.

that's nothing, we had a 2009 chevy HHR and when the cell phone was in the cup holder or front passenger seat and would ring the "airbag" light would flash ...dealer took video of it but could not duplicate it with other HHR's on the lot.
    just gremlins acting up

Old thread, but still pertinent. I recently got a new phone, and started getting the key not detected message when my kids would open the doors to get out of the car at school. (2012 Prius 4). If I move the phone around away from the phone holder near the dash, the message will clear quickly, within a second or two. If I leave the phone in the holder, it might take 4 or 5 minutes before it clears, even if I held the key fob up to the start button for an extended period of time. Not sure if it is NFC or WIFI or 5G frequencies that are causing havoc, or maybe even the wireless QI charger, but my previous phone did not cause the issue, some kind of interference is obviously happening.
