    The kit is very easy to install and quite simple. All it takes is 2 wires connected to the studs of the factory Prius NiMH battery (the contactor, a heavy relay), and an accessory 12v wire and ground. Optionally you can tap into the factory EV-mode wire but perhaps you have done that already. This is not necessary. (Forcing EV mode does not increase your overall mileage but can add to the fun and learning.)

    I bought the kit in late 2010 but for more than 3 years I stored the kit unused in my garage after charging the batteries to a storage level. I worked 55 hours a week and had limited time to fully explore its capabilities. In all probability I only cycled the batteries less than 100 times. It could be closer to 50. (During this time I had a significant life-change and have been downsizing selling most of what I own. With little time perhaps half of what I sold has been new or near new.) The batteries are “rated” to last 2000 cycles (80% remaining) 3000 cycles (70% remaining). To my experience they are still fully 100% as strong as they were when they were new, but this is an educated assessment based on my experience.

    Kit came with came with 2 Chargery brand S8 (serial) balancers. The 16 individual volt meters were inconsistent relative to each other so I contacted the owner of Enginer who sold me his newest BMS (Battery Management System) that he sells today. But this too had the same 16 separate volt-meter problem and I never used it.

    Perhaps I was too picky but I continued to research and eventually the entire EV / Plug-in hybrid hobbyist community began to embrace a new approach called “Bottom Balancing” where “Battery Monitoring” replaced the more cumbersome and complicated “Battery Management.” With this technique and knowing its success along with the option to infrequently charge and balance the batteries at their “Top” end, and with the experience and knowing the battery’s min and max safe voltages, it has become rather “easy” to use the quality onboard charger to fully charge the batteries to their proper capacity.

    Concepts of Bottom Balancing: (I took to 2.75v and with less amps, not 2.5v stated in videos. For me, knowing both Bottom and “Top” balancing adds great confidence to properly charge the batteries well within either extreme.)

    I see in your ad that you had another 2kw of Mottcell batteries that you might consider selling. I just picked up an Enginer kit with dead-ish batteries (4kwh kit, probably only about 2-3kw usable as I revive them), and might be in the market for more matching cells.

    Did you ever end up doing anything with those batteries?
