sensor ports perhaps for distance to object warning.

I can't judge on pictures alone. The looks could grow on me if the specs are impressive.

It looks like a sedan and a hatchback smashed together. Not a fan, I'll wait to see it in person though.

So you're talking about design and styling and BMW i3 in the same breath; sure it is really fantastic looking alright! :D
Looks? I'll put my Gen III against the i3.

IMHO who cares what the exterior looks like, Gen 4 will be its own Prius. It looks like Mirai's little brother. The styling is Toyota Design Center's own, in ten years it will still look contemporary. We sure will not confuse it with a Volt or a C-Max.
I believe it will look better in person. Will it sell? At least it doesn't have that Lexus "hourglass" grille. That does look like crap to me. It will look different, and not like a Ford Probe in 4 door. We really can't see the rear of the vehicle.
We will be in the market in August of 2016. Think of it like this, if you don't like its looks, they will be more ready to deal on one. We all know that the mileage will go up. Plus what other amenities Gen4 will have is a mystery.
I want to drive it and see what has improved in the past few years. DON'T PANIC! It's just a Prius!

I know, bisco. I have a soft spot in my heart for cars like this. I have owned a Corvair, a Vega, a Dasher, a Reliant, a Topaz, a del Sol and the Prius Gen 2.
Its the interior and all the options that count. Of course if they don't like the exterior, you don't have to look at it anyway.

These are probably the cars that will be unwrapped in September, in Vegas.

I agree, what was BMW i3 is buttugly. The dealer had one for a few months, I just don't see any style here. Definition of a camel: a horse designed by a commitee.

If the price of gasoline keeps dropping, SUV's and pickups will sell like hotcakes. Prius sales usually drop as gasoline prices drop.
This will be good for my bottom line. It will cost even fewer cents per gallon to drive it. Yea!

Anybody remember the Nissan Pulsar? They had an option to remove the lift back and install a cap, like on a camper truck. Toyota should make that available on this new model, and then it would be like a true pick up truck.;)

I like how the LA times quotes "The car looks lower to the ground, which would lower its center of gravity and improve the Prius' often-criticized driving characteristics."

Who has criticized the driving characteristics?
