.......and I'm nervous! Well, not really and the service is free but I'm on unfamiliar ground. I've never taken a vehicle to a dealer for service. I'm a professional aircraft mechanic for going on 30 years now and pretty much take care of all my own maintenance. I have always owned Toyota or Nissan 4 cyl trucks so there was never really any maintenance problems and no need to see the dealer's service department.

I've yet to open or look at the documents that came with my new Prius and am quite happy with the car, no issues. What are the things y'all have requested Toyota do to make your Prius better?? I assume they are going to rotate Enzo's tires, check fluid levels & such image.jpg p

I have taken mine to the dealer every 5,000 miles, and have had no issues. The only request I ask of them is to not wash the car, as I am particular on how a car should be washed and what products to use.

    You should be!
Still over priced considering the time that you'll be wasting.
That's good. You'll be able to double check their work and make sure that they replaced any fluid cap that they might have bothered to remove. You can also loosen the lugs and make sure that they're properly and (more importantly!) uniformly torqued...and check the engine bay for any FOD.
You'll want to make a note of which tire is in which corner in case you're one of those people who have a strong opinion about how the tires should be rotated.

    Good Luck with Enzo! :)

if i were a mech, i would skip the 'free' service. when i consider the time spent taking it to the dealer, port to port, and all the checking resetting and repairing you have to do afterward, there's nothing 'free' about it. but if you insist, all the advice above, plus check your oil level and tyre pressures. also, if you don't want them to reset any meters, wrap the switches in duck tape. all the best!(y)

I need take my Persona in soon too. It's at 4500 miles. Is it necessary to rotate the tires? I think that's only useful thing they will do. oh and if I want them to make the back up beeping to one beep instead.

My strong opinion on tire rotation is that I don't don't do it. But on my trucks I buy a new set every two years, summer & winter sets, and just swap them out. I feel better now about going in.

I live in a small town so there is no hassle

On Toyota's dime all they will do at 5000 miles is "look" at things & rotate the tires. I wouldn't waste my time.

I thought I could wait to get the customizable settings changed but they were too annoying. I think you held out longer than I did. I'd get the settings changed but still skip the tire rotation.

Is it just that "free" is an offer you can't refuse? You sound like the perfect candidate to get off on the right foot: continue to DIY. Crack the maintenance guide, see what's involved?

There's been a few horror stories, people coming off the free portion of their maintenance, finding: missing oil filters (just the cartridge, the element missing), damaged or missing underpanels, and so on. Not saying it will happen, but...

Unfortunately, I find these two statements inconsistent o_O

In the "documents" that came with your Prius, you'll find a Warranty & Maintenance Guide that lays out the complete recommended maintenance schedule. If you register with MyToyota "owners online", you'll have these resources at your fingertips online.

Yea, I know. But I've yet to open them!

.....oh, I see this is one of those forums where they take threads from popular sub forums and move them to empty ones

I would change the oil out around the 3k mark, but that's just me because the engine is new. Let Toyota do it again at the 10k mark and drain at 15k. I don't really trust the stuff Toyota puts in to go 10k, I can't be certain it's full synthetic oil. I would skip the free tire rotation if that's all you're doing
