Asking about these scanner readings. It will drive but I am uncomfortable driving the 30 miles to the Toyota dealership. I hope all three images come through.

An inverter overheating is a serious problem. You have not nessissarily damaged the inverter yet, but do not drive it anymore until it is fixed. Have it towed to the dealer with front wheels off the ground or on a flat bed truck.

If the inverter cooling pump failed, the inverter is no longer getting cooled and can be damaged. Inverters are very expensive, in the thousands of dollars to replace.

DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE! A very short distance would be ok, say from street to your driveway/garage, or position the vehicle in the middle of your garage. To drive miles risks frying the inverter. NEW Inverter costs $3367 at Camelback. A Used Inverter is a few hundred dollars.

With the vehicle OFF, open the inverter reservoir. Notice that the fluid is calm, and not moving. When car is IG-ON or READY, do you see "turbulence," or movement of the coolant? If no, inverter pump has died. Time to replace the inverter pump. Many threads on how to replace that pump.

Mine died recently after only about 40,000 miles, and this was the replacement pump from the pseudo "recall," (LSC-Limited Service Campaign). Original pump was replaced at 99,000 miles under the LSC. After this experience, and the fact that the 3 closest dealers near me don't stock the pump, I keep a spare in the garage.

You should get mini VCI from Amazon/eBay, $25. Any one will do. Software version 8.0 or later is sufficient. You can always find the latest software, to work on the latest Toyota/Lexus, somewhere. Generic OBD2 reader's, like yours, miss a lot of Prius specific codes. The mini VCI will give you the same dealer level diagnostic capability! You will need a spare laptop, ideally running a 32bit Windows OS (XP or 7). Assume the hacked Techstream software has malware, thus the laptop being a spare that is only used for working on your Prius. Do not use the laptop to enter valuable information such as log on Id/password, banking, email, etc. Despite this, many use hacked Techstream w/o any issues. Read this for useful info on install/set-up:

Pay the $15 for a two business day subscription to Toyota's TIS (Toyota - New Subscription), to get THE Service and Repair manual, written by Toyota. This manual has a wealth of info and trouble shooting. Chilton/Haynes is junk, compared to Toyota's Service Manual. Be warned, PDFs are no longer available, as Toyota went to a CHM format. Maybe you are more technically advance and know how to save a CHM file; the benefit of CHM are the hyperlinks w/in the file, that will take you to another section of a manual. If you can't/don't know how to save CHM, you can go old school and save as PDFs like this person (Toyota TIS download tips | PriusChat).

    Good luck.

You can buy an ELM327 wifi adapter and use EngineLink HD app for IPad/IPhone to monitor just about everything in you car. The total cost is about $25 for the adapter and app.

It will show your inverter temp, inverter water temperature, and inverter water pump RPM.

I have attached a picture of my EngineLink HD screen. In the lower left corner you can see the water pump RPM, and above that are all the inverter temperatures.

    Good luck,

Exstudent makes a good point. I also have the cable adapter and software on an old windows XP laptop. It will show everything the dealer sees. I used it to program a new key fob.

I drive with my IPad strapped to the console just aft of the shift knob. I monitor all the inverter temps and pump RPMs.

Hope you are able to repair yourself. The inverter pump is not very expensive. Just make sure to bleed the air out of the the inverter coolant or the inverter may overhead again. There is a procedure for bleeding the air.

Ok, I did not have to worry about it too much with an extra vehicle in the yard. I just went out to check. The inverter coolant is not moving at all, so the pump is not running. Toyota says $130 for a new pump. I am waiting for them to call me back to tell me if they have it in stock. I don't know if I will have the time or patience to replace it myself. Others that had to have it replaced have quoted $350 to $390. I hope to have some kind of estimate before I drop it off.

They will have to order the pump. 3 hour job at $95 per hour. They would also like to run their own diagnostic at $40+. The diagnostic is a separate charge. Opinions?
