    Same thing happened to me. I had a fairly easy 10 miles each way commute change to a 26 miles each way commute because the startup I was/am working for was acquired by a large company.

    Yeah, kinda sucks, but that's living in the Bay Area for ya. At least we have access to the carpool lanes...

    Dev, do you plug in at work? If not, do you just start out in EV mode?

    I plugin at home. And yes, I start out in EV mode in the morning, but due to the terrain of where I live, and the roads, I end up using a mix of EV and HV for my commute. I used to also plugin at work, but when they installed new chargers a couple of years ago, and started charging $1 per hour, I stopped plugging in since it wasn't cost effective to use them. So going home is pure HV mode. I get about 63 MPG coming to work, and about 46 to 48 MPG going home. My commute is about 46 miles each way.

    The other reason the depreciation is so steep is because of the incentives. If in Ca you can get the car for 28k less 4k in rebates, you're paying $24k for a new one. You have to start calculating the depreciation from there, not from msrp.
