I took the plunge and purchased a set of wet okole frontr seat covers for my 2006 Silver (package7). Wow! Form fitting, with a cut out for the side air bags. Really sharp. Its like putting a wet suit on your front seats. It only took me about 30 minutes, start to finish. The only detail, usually not mentioned, is unclipping the factory installed seat covers under the front seat to allow for the Wet Okole's to pass between the bottom and top sections to hold them in place. Unclipping and clipping only took about a minute and the installation looks as good as custom installation.

I've tried the lessor seat covers and I can truly say you get what you pay for. I am very happy that these covers provide a tad bit more extra padding and the protection of a wet suit to the seats. I've never really been happy with leather and the factory cloth interior was not up to my standards either. But the Wet Okole certainly are. I am one very happy customer!

I can't be reading this right. You voluntarily used RUBBER to upholster the car seats ?!!

    <shudder>

I scuba dived for years. Nothing more disgusting than walking around in neoprene. Please do not tell me you warm up like we used to.

So, now what are you going to put on to protect the Wet Okole seat covers?

Okay, I read your post then went to the Okole web site. These seat covers do look sharp.
. Please comment on the contrast between the front and back seats (you only did the front .. right?).
. I wore wet suits many years ago. Always carried neoprene glue to repair the rips & tears. I'd worry about the fragility of the material. Comments?
. Seat covers often look good until viewing them from the back seat, then they take on that 'seat cover' look. Comments?
. Would love to see pictures.

I've had my Prius since 11/03 and it has logged over 42k miles. I love the gray alcantara fabric. Quite sturdy and easy to care for. It would be a cold day in hell if I ever installed rubber to park my butt on.

I purchased the charcoal inserts with black borders. The seats blend in with the existing rear ones very well. I also purchased the pockets for in back of the front seats. I would say the form fitting gives it a very natural look from the back seat as well. Since I don't have young children, I really didn't need any back seat protection. I don't think these seat covers are going to get any rips or tears, since they are well fitted and the texture on the seat cover is very soft and padded. As for pictures, I don't have any, but they would look identical to the ones on the Wet Okole website, except for the colors.

There appear to be a lot of joksters answering my thread and I can only attribute that to the equivalent of prius envy. Only it is Wet Okole envy. I was just passing along my satisfaction with the product, since I tried other, cheaper seat covers, and had to return or sell them off because they were not quality. Since the seat covers are custom made, they fit like a well made Italian glove. I have zero regrets and think they will hold up for as long as my Prius does. Thanks for asking.

I've looked at the covers and have also been to the store. I loved the look, but my question is about DOGS. I do rescue and the one comment about possible tears echos my query. Does anyone use the Wet Okoles with bouncing animals? If so, how do they hold up? Many THANKS. B)

Thanks for your post and all the installation and opinion information. I 've been seriously considering these Wet Oakley's as well, in black and grey. Actually here are two links with pictures from this site of others who have installed the Wet Oakleys. I think they look great! I had a question about how comfortable the wet suit material would be, but apparently it's fine, not sticky, and very comfortable.

Here are the links to the other discussions with pics on this site for others like me who have not taken the plunge yet:

 It's Wet Okole, not Wet Oakleys.
Fyi, "okole" is the Hawaiian word for butt. Yeah, Wet Butt seat covers, hence waterproof. B)

I was told by someone at wet okole that it might be better to get the black and charcoal.. ( i am awaiting swatches to see the difference). He said that the gray is pretty light and it might get dirty quicker.

I went with the charcoal, with light grey piping. Fairly conservative, but they look great.

They clean right up too. They'll only show dirt if you don't clean them once in a while. In fact, they encourage you to clean them regularly to keep them pliable and in good condition, ala a wetsuit (salt, drys out, breaks down).

They are a huge improvement over the stock fabric.

Good move on the swatches. At over $500 for the set, you can afford to be patient.

Actually the black and charcoal idea sounds like it would even look better with our grey interior. Sorry about the misspelling.........

Anyone with the bisque interior ordered these? Just curious about which color looks best. I am picking up my Seaside #4 tomorrow and it will have the bisque interior. Charcoal sounds kind of nice with the blue exterior, but I am wondering about the interior...
