trading my Prius C and going bigger

    I only had my prius about 6 months and put 12,400 miles on it but it is time for me get a bigger car. I certainly enjoyed the gas economy but I couldn't take the small ride any more. The Prius C is a great little car for fuel but I drive 500 plus miles a week and it just was uncomfortable.

    I purchased a 2013 Taurus and the comfort for me is there. I know I will miss the economy but I hope the ride makes up the difference. I didn't get what I had hoped in trade, they only offered me 18k for a C THREE and I paid sticker like most I am sure. The C has its flaws to though. The nav system needs a little work and the panels in the doors for me just stayed scratched up. I could not get the marks out and neither could the dealer.

    Also I wish Toyota had put the display on the drivers side. After driving six months it always seemed like I was looking away instead of forward for the driver information (speed and such). Can't say I had any problems with the car and only took it to the dealer for the service intervals. The lights for the dash and steering wheel controls could be brighter. All said it was not a bad car and I wish everyone the best of luck with theirs. I will still peek in from time to time and see how folks are doing with their prius's. After owning one I kinda of got attached and curious how they progress.

    Didn't even consider the Prius G3?
    I went with the Prius C strictly as a single occupant vehicle otherwise to haul humans I would have went to a Prius V.

    Time to get a bigger car? That rarely makes logical sense unless you're having triplets. I'm baffled at the vehicular transition and very curious at why you even bothered with the C. Even a Prius V is small compared to a Taurus.

    Something else is at play here. Were you socio-politically coerced into a Ford, or made fun of for not having a big manly car? Most people on forums have a reasonable idea what they want in a car; but the swap you made is confusing. If you had to go Ford, why not a C-Max or Focus? They're both "big" compared to the Prius C and will get much better real-world economy vs. the massive Taurus.

    $18k for a trade-in is awesome! Best of luck with everything.

    There is a lot to be said for renting a car for a week, or at least a couple of days. The 10 minute drive that the dealership allows just does not give a good sense of what a buyer will think of the car 6 months later. Sometimes yes, with luck; but often enough the first impression changes.

    My Gen II I got for the same reason...I call it my motorcycle. Most of the time it holds just me and my surfboards and my work bag.

    It does depend on what he needed and wanted. If I didn't have my older car to play with, I don't know if I would have been as happy with the Prius. Once in a while I just have the need for speed and want to take something out that actually has a larger engine. Not to say the prius C is bad in any way, it is just a different type of vehicle then I am used to.

    I wish you luck on the Tarus. I do hope you got the turbo 4 for milage as you do put on quite a bit of miles a year and it at least gets 26 mpg. That way it will only cost about $125 more in fuel a month then the Prius would using your milage and the average milage of the Prius C and Tarus and $3 a gallon gas. (It is currently $3.04 here)

    I do agree with the other posts stating to rent one or at least take it for a LONG test drive. I know I did about 30 miles and took my time. Then again, I liked the way the car felt, looked, handled with the milage a plus instead of the reason for getting it. For my needs though, it fits the bill and does what I want without me having to think about anything but gas for the next 2 years.

    Why did you not consider the full size Prius if the C was to small.

    The OP hasn't been on in 3 years.
