You can get the oil change at 5,000 miles if you ask. It took the service rep a couple of minutes to clear it with the service manager but what they did was take the 5,000 service interval out of the system and move the 10,000 service including the oil change up to 5,000 miles.
Some people believe in a short term first oil change to get all the manufacturing debris out of the engine so it might be a good thing to do. We won't be putting many miles on the car and I didn't want to maybe lose the second free oil change. Only thing I might lose is the free tire rotation and I can find someone else to do that for a reasonable price.

Your Prius comes equipped with a handy oil filter will happily remove any 'manufacturing debris' from the oil system, no need for an early oil change.

Btw- I have an 03 Tacoma in the driveway that I've been doing 5-7000 mile oil change with conventional oil for the last 275,000 miles or so.

Hi Gary, my name is Ingemar. My family purchased a 2015 Prius IV Persona a month ago in November. Today it experienced a catastrophic braking failure. Pedal went all the way to the floor with no resistance. Luckily we weren't moving at a high rate of speed and weren't involved in a serious crash. At a different time this could have been fatal.

I'm writing to ask if you (or anyone else in a 2015 that reads this) have experienced braking problems or failure. Thanks in advance. We are covered by warranty but if it is not reproduced at the dealer I'm worried about keeping it. Feels like a death trap.

i would report it to nhtsa, and avoid driving the car until it has been repaired beyond the shadow of a doubt.

@Ingemar Smith was there any warning lights? This would indicate a code stored, that the dealership could read.
