ok scan system for code with Snap On verus and a Launch x431 this is a 2005 with 192k. I can not find any inf codes to lead me in the flow chart that alldata provides. Are their some years that don't provide inf codes. I have check all 3 smi relay and they are getting the command signal to closed the relays but looks like the smi2 will not close at times can this be the cause of P0AA6 of the isolation fault. seems to be intermittent sometimes it closes. As far as the P0AA6 I did push the start button 1 time to power up with no not "ready" on and waited 90 seconds and the triangle came on and set code. It has a new 12v battery I have take all the buss bars off the hv and clean, not that bad very littler discoloration and corrosion. Test each cell and have 7.78-7.97 in each ,installed 55w light loaded each and none ever drop below 7.65. this my not be the right way but I am learning and trying to figure this out. Have really never worked on the hv side of a prius always the motor side, but this now intrigues me .

Classic codes for transaxle failure. Shorted or open motor winding. Pull trans fluid should smell burnt. Look for used G2 transaxle.

I would suggest you replace the negative system main relay to start. Examine both positive relays as one apparently is stuck closed. The P0AA1 and P0AA4 fault codes indicate that two relays are stuck closed so exercise tremendous care as a shock hazard is definitely present if the relays actually remain closed.

The P0AA6 code indicates a high voltage ground fault. Perhaps this is caused by a faulty relay or there may be another unrelated issue.

that is what i was thinking i first thought could it be the hv ecu but it was receiving the command to energize the relay and sending the command to the relay. As per caroline indicated in one of her blogs on luscious garage the red triangle being flagged after 90 seconds of first puch of button indicates the fault is with in the hv unit and not the trans.I just order a megger meter to help complete my checks.

Th A6 code trumps all other codes. Its seeing hi voltage leaking. The usual place for that is the transaxle.

Save yourself alot of time and possible further complications. Drain a little bit of trans fluid. See if it stinks. Its cheap and quick and at 192K miles no big surprise.

ok but it only is sees the a code on the first push of the button this means the contact have not closed yet so the problem should be in the hv battery area

well success i bought a megger meter and found 1 cell leaking voltage threw the case to the battery box and causing my problem. I have not worked on any prius just the general service never the hv system. After reading for weeks now, i learned the fundamentals and i fill more confident to do more of the major repairs. I have signed up for some hybrid class and am eager to lean more on what make these things tick. I do have to say i own snap on ,launch, GM tech II ,ford IDS and Mastertech i bought the toyota tech stream just to learn and use on this car the factory tools will help out alot and a must buy a Megger meter for the hybrid.Cant wait for the next one to come along.
