Touring model? It's the same rear diffuser as the one on the red car in Las Vegas which Erica stated was a Touring model.

    <sigh>

OK PEOPLE, LET'S CLEAR THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL. (that's right, my first all caps sentence).

Top picture: 5-spoke 17" alloys in black with removeable silver triangle plastoc inserts between the spokes.

Middle picture: 15" aerodynamic wheel cover with black painted parts to give the illusion that it gas 5 "blades" spinning around.

Bottom picture: The exact same 15" wheel cover design as the middle picture except it's all silver. You can see the same 5-blade design but the part in between is silver and not black.

The 15" alloy that's underneath these wheel covers look practically the same as the 2010-2011 Gen 3 twinned 5-spoke alloy wheels. They are silver (not black like the 2012-2015)

15" alloy wheels with the full silver painted aerodynamic wheel covers. Possible the base model (Two?)
15" alloys with aerodynamic wheel covers. EXACTLY THE SAME DESIGN as the silver car above except it has carefully painted black parts to give the illusion that it's a 5-blade design.

17" BLACK 5-spoke alloys on the Touring model with silver plastic inserts between the spokes that are removeable and customisable (if Toyota offers it, otherwise, import it from Japan or something).

I think those inserts are a good thing, because if you do get to near to a curbside and damage one of them, you can exchange it without any problem, without having the whole alloy wheel ruined.
I guess the inserts stick out a bit to protect the black painted alloy !?

I can't remember if they stick out or if they're flush. They may be flush for aerodynamic purposes.

Aftermarket wheels are expensive if you go with legitimate ones (and not cheap knock offs that'll shatter the moment you hit a pothole).

Thanks for clearing that up Tideland. I concur with black and silver painted 15" wheelcover option. Black and silver wheels are all the rage these days with at least Honda, probably several other mfrs.

The split level cargo floor / folded rear seat backs can present challenges in some situations: I just rented a gas pressure washer 2 days ago and it was easy to just roll it up near the front passenger seatback and tie it down. Would likely be much more difficult to load with split level cargo floor.
On upside, the strings to lift tonneau cover are a good idea: I get bit tired of rolling my tonneau cover open and closed, open and closed to get something / cover up the cargo area.

IF the G4 is the same as previous generations (looks like it is) then the 15" wheel/tyre combo is the same overall diameter as the 17" wheel/tyre combo (within a few tenths - and if you buy new tyres that are different than the OEM tyres they also vary by a few tenths).

SO, the difference between the 15" wheels and the 17" wheels is the weight and distribution of same over the wheel/tyre combo AND the width of the tyre.
This will affect the size of the contact patch and will affect the flex of the sidewalls. These have very noticeable effects on handling, noise, and mileage. But it's not the overall diameter that's doing it. Just to clear up some errors in previous posts.

    take it easy :)

From far, Wayne's Eco model looked like it had those white/black wheels... apparently it has 15" alloys with slightly different design like you posted above... still, it means Eco model has alloy wheels, which is good.

I agree. There are benefits both ways - flat floor vs. deeper "bin" to carry taller items. I would think an accessory would be offered to fill the gap (like what Nissan offers for the Cube or Leaf) so that owners have the best of both worlds - a flat floor when they want it and a deep bin when they need it. The question of course is whether TMC will make one and if they do, whether TMS will import it and offer it Stateside. If not, Danny might have a business opportunity here ;)

:) Yeah alloys. Toyota hasn't gone the Nissan route yet and offer steel wheels for cost purposes. (like the Leaf S).

Honestly, how these people get invited back to press events is beyond me sometimes. I have a huge queue of content to post and am sitting on it because I dare to follow the embargo.

    Wednesday can't come soon enough...
