When I was kicking tires and trying to decide which of the 3 cars to purchase i.e. the Chevrolet Volt, the Nissan Leaf or the Prius plug-in. I had an interesting conversation with the Nissan salesman. He said that there is a Nissan Leaf owners club that meets at their dealership once a month and he pointed to an upstairs room at the dealership. I thought that was a pretty good idea. Well, I ended up buying the Prius. I mentioned the same thing to the general manager of the Toyota dealership where I purchased it and I could tell that he was less than enthusiastic about the idea. And he kind of brushed it off by saying "we really have not sold that many of them anyways". I live in Northern Virginia out by Dulles International airport.

Are there any plug-in clubs in your area? By "clubs" I mean where you actually get together face-to-face and share stories and ideas etc. Personally I think it's a pretty good idea.

there are local prius clubs, and that's probably enough to get you all the 'face' time you need. especially with our small numbers. and a great way to educate non pip prius owners!

UKR2, - U. R. Right! We are a club....pass the bagels please....but it would be nice to sit and chat about the PiP's face to face, share what we have learned and of couse see each others Pip's and discuss the evolution (revolution?) of the industry as a whole. I see that the new redesign on the 2013 Honda Accord will have the gas + Hybrid + Plug-in Hybrid rolling out...seems more cars are coming out with the Plug-in option - Ford Fusion as well!!

Range anxiety is a real thing for Leaf owners, and fully understand why there is a support group that meets on a regular basis for therapy. PiP owners stress quite a bit about their 11-13 mile EV range, but seeing as they will never be stranded more than a couple of miles from a quick fix of 500 miles worth of a backup source of power not available to Leaf owners, I can understand why we do not have the same issues to deal with.

some say excellent, others say you need snow tyres.
