My 2004 Silver Prius is still going strong, but I'm toying around with the idea of trading it in or selling it myself (ebay, these boards, etc). So I went to Bill Penney in Huntsville to see what kind of price I'd get for my car. They weren't able to put a firm trade-in price down, but it was about $20k. Then I asked how much the new Prius with package 7 was going for. He did some fiddling, and said the MSRP was $28k, but they weren't going for that low. Said that the lowest they've been able to sell the 2006 Prius was $1500 above MSRP. I looked at him with awe. Are you serious? He then asked me how much did I pay for my Prius. I told him, "MSRP, and not a penny above it". He then looked at me as if I were crazy. He then told me I'd have to be very lucky to get a Prius at MSRP. Lol, I laughed, and left.

So now comes the next part of my quest: Any dealerships in Alabama, Tennesee, Georgia, or within 300 miles of Huntsville, AL worth going to?

I test drove an '05 last September at Bill Penney's and they were asking $2,000 above MRSP then. I found High Country Toyota in Scottsboro (www.highcountrytoyota.com) online and pretty much made my deal over the phone ('05 package 5 at MSRP, self-financed) and picked it up Halloween weekend. I live in Southern Middle Tennessee so I don't use them for my routine service but I didn't have any negative experience in making initial purchase.

Hey all...I bought my 06 Pkg #3 from Bill Penney Toyota for MSRP in January 2006. They even gave me good money on my trade (only $900 less than what I paid for the car and drove the car for 13 months and put 18,000 miles on it). If you talk to Bill Penney Toyota, talk to Shane Watts, he's a good guy.

I bought two cars from them in the past year and both times they gave me good deals. I'm happy working with them.

BTW, stay away from Serra Toyota of Decatur, they are a bunch of crooks.

We just bought ours on April 29th at Jay Toyota in Columbus, GA (West Central on the Chatahootchee)
Our sales person was Tamika Day, who had impressed me a year earlier withen I first started looking at Priuses, good info but no pressure. Jay was pretty aggressive about finding the package and color we wanted, and sold it to us at MSRP....web sites for all others I was seeing in GA were considerably higher. However, and maybe this is typical, there was some finagling/game playing re: interest rates on financing but our bank did the same thing so maybe it is normal. We didn't have a trade in so I can't speak to that issue.
Looks like they have a white # 7 or 8 on the lot now......

Got mine from Tuscaloosa Toyota, salesman was Bill Beemer. I had looked on-line, found they had what I wanted and called. He came in on his day off to sell me the car, after he marked it as mine the day before, so it wouldn't get sold before I got there. I paid MSRP, but they gave me more than I'd expected on my trade-in. He knew the car very well, and made sure I was comfortable with all the controls and stuff before I left. Not sure if they're within your 300-mile limit, but I'd go back to them.
