Without active jamming systems, a LIDAR detector is just a toy. Laser speed detectors work at the speed of light with no radar-type signal bleed to read in advance: He sees you, your detector lights up, you get the ticket. You have to change or interfere with the incoming laser beam to not have your speed verified and identified on the policeman's LIDAR viewfinder. A working system requires both jamming and detecting as correctly described in the posts above.

Unfortunately, I believe the active systems are/were illegal. If that has changed then I would definitely consider them.

Ended up purchasing a Cobra DSP 9200 BT to try until January 15. I wish Valentine would add community based sharing but no. Still don't feel like I have the funds to pull the trigger on an Escort MAX 360!

LIDAR detectors work, but they cannot prevent you from receiving a ticket: No one's reaction time works faster than the speed of light. Only active jamming systems combined with a device for beam verification will do anything at all. These detectors will only work with radio-wave systems. If your jurisdiction uses LIDAR laser speed measurement, you are simply throwing money down a rathole.

Thank you for reminding me. ALPriority is very expensive, non-transferable between vehicles, and still illegal here from my understanding. Closest chance I have is if someone in front of me is tagged with laser and this is transmitted to me through the iRadar application.
