So, I'm so close to stepping up to a new 15 Camry Hybrid LE!

Test drove 14 model last year and it felt so planted and soothing...

I got this super deal on a left over new 15.... so tempting.
My 14 C is going to my nephew ...

Anyone experienced w/ 15 or 16 Camry Hybrids?

Love my 2013 XLE. 39.6 mpg over 46k miles. It's not prius good on mpg but it's a little fancier and quieter.

I've had one since March of this year. If you're getting an LE go for the higher grade radio system than the default. Also get the rims. They are so much better to have than those hubcaps in my opinion.

I also love my '13. Highly recommend the Camry Hybrid. Very nice step up from the Prius with all the technology and HSD. The ride is smooth, quiet and comfy. MPG hit is not that bad. I have averaged 40.1 mpg's over about 30kmiles.

We've been holding off till this year. I've read that the expected all-new model will be a 2018 released in the Fall of 2017.

    Is that a good timeframe?

Today I drove a rental 2015 Camry hybrid for about 40 miles (30 on freeway and 10 on local roads) and felt like it got better mpg than my old prius did??? Or maybe I'm getting good at hypermiling without even trying or it really gets better mpg than prius. But how's that possible? :)

They do get decent mpg but not as good as even a Gen II Prius in my experience.

Well we did hold off a bit. Unsure of the next gen, we found a low mileage 2014 XLE Camry Hybrid with all the bells and whistles. We did a certified lease at 15k a year. Quite the upgrade from our 2007 TCH, and appreciate the extra trunk room as well. About the same mileage as our 2007, maybe a tad higher. Closing in on 40 as it warms up. We did try the new Gen 4 Prius, which she didn't like compared to any Camry. I liked it, but didn't Love it, although better than the Gen 3.

So we have low monthly payments and Zero dollars down. Money saved will end up going into something else in three years. I have to admit, I really look forward to driving the Camry than my Prius v. But such is life.

Congrats on the New TCH.)

I've had mine for almost 13 months now. 11K miles as of today. I still like it. I saw one of the new Prii on the road on the way into work. I really think Toyota missed the boat on the rear end lights. They should have taken the light all the way across the spoiler. It looks to me like the spoiler has a burnt out light when looking at it. But then again what do I know?

As for the Camry I'm averaging around 40MPG average when I'm being good. IE following the road rules and all that. When I'm a speed demon I go down to about 38MPG average. I miss the 50MPG of my Prius but I don't miss not having lumbar support in the seat. Toyota should include lumbar in the driver seat on ALL levels of a vehicle and not just the top level.

Oops, this is a 2013 TCH, not a 14. The 14/15 do a tad better in mileage I think.

But at any rate, over a six-year upgrade in models. Honestly, I doubt she would have bought a new one, which probably stickers in the mid to high 30 k's. Would much rather have this car than adding struts, new starter battery and a couple of other things to the old one. I can fit our bowling balls in this new trunk far easier than the 2007, but not nearly as easily as my v.

As many improvements as they made to the new Prius, the mileage is not nearly enough to sway the decision, and it didn't. She flatly stated that she'd rather have this '13 TCH than a 2016 Prius, which in equivalent trim would be a tad pricey.

I think the 2016 Malibu hybrid would be a better deal if you can get one at a good price. 46 mpg average is great mpg and it sure looks better than a hybrid Camry which is really old world technology now....

Be interesting to see actual mileage in the new Malibu. I kind of like the exterior styling, but still turned off by Chevy's interior. Malibu still has a severe restriction in that the trunk is only 11.6 cf and limited to no pas through. 48/45 is pretty impressive though.

Might add that Chevy accomplishes the feat without high inflation special tires or other add ons and tweaks. What have they really done differently other than the Volt drivetrain, is it that much more efficient?

Apparently the Malibu hybrid rear seats do fold down but the battery partially blocks the pass through. There haven't been many reviews yet so it's hard to know how big of a problem it really is.

The final revised mpg estimate for the Malibu hybrid is 47 city, 46 highway, and 46 combined. The Camry hybrid is 43 city, 39 highway, and 41 combined.

The Malibu gets better mileage than the Volt's 42 mpg during engine operation for 4 reasons:

    1. It has a different small motor/generator ("MG 1") that is optimized for mpg rather than for all-EV driving and cost reduction.

    2. It has exhaust heat recovery hardware (like the Prius) that was left off of the Volt for cost reduction.

    3. It has a new 1.8L engine designed and dedicated specifically to hybrid powertrain use. The Volt uses an adapted version of the new 1.5L engine being used in turbo form in a variety of other small GM cars. This was done for, you guessed it, cost reduction reasons.

    4. The Volt hybrid computer is tuned to emulate more of an EV driving feel that takes advantage of its bigger battery and motors. This results in a bit more energy conversion from engine to electric and using and storing to the battery which reduces EPA combined estimate by about 1 mpg.

Perhaps Toyota is taking this all in as they prepare the next gen TCH.

Usually whatever you see on the new Prius will percolate to other models (the one exception was the 2007 Camry Hybrid which finally got rid of the thermos AND pressurized fuel tank but still got the AT-PZEV rating. That technology was passed on to the 2010 Prius)

Someone told me their Camry Hybrid best mpg would be on par with my Prius worst. Which isn't too bad.
