Mine is 2011 Prius II, no JBL. OEM Radio had 4 plugs, Android Unit has 3. I was skeptical also but everything works including steering wheel controls! #30

I just received the 4 connector, but I have not replaced the 3 connector. I also purchased the 12V to 6V converter and the 16 pin connector to enable the b/u camera. I am using this link Installing aftermarket in-dash GPS unit in a 2015 Prius Two | PriusChat - as guide for my install.

Since the install, I have had an error message about parking malfunction, and in another thread other members say its due to a bad 12V battery, which I hope it is, because that would be an easy fix!

As far as the head unit itself goes, everything works except,

    1. I can't get the physical buttons to stay lit. They glow brightly when I change the color settings, but only for a second, and then don't light up anymore. I can't find any way to change this.

    2. The audio rear fade does not work. When I try it, there is no sound from any speaker

    3. About those wires from my harness, I have figured out most if it. The Amp-con is for an external amplifier that I don't have installed, so I don't need it. The Reverse wire if for the backup camera and I will complete that install in a week or two after I find good instructions for a newbie like myself. The illumination wire is supposed to connect to a corresponding wire from the car that is apparently available only on cars with factory-installed navigation. The wire I have no clue about is labeled brake.

    4. There were 2 other connectors to the factory unit with no corresponding connections on the Android unit - a blue square connectors that is most likely for satellite radio which I don't need, and a small 6 pin connector that another PC user says is for the Aux port under the handrest. So it looks like I will lose that functionality, but I haven't checked it yet.

Assuming you have the same connectors and pin configurations as my 2015 Prius II non-JBL:

    1) The buttons are lit only when you have the park lights on.

    2) Does sound come out of your rear speakers? I had that problem and was solved when I upgraded the firmware to Malaysk ROM.

    3) I had to modify the connector for the reverse pin (it did not have any) for the reverse camera to work. Pin 2 of the 28 pin connector ((pink) reverse gear signal). The wire labeled brake needs to be connect to pin 6 of the 16 pin connector ((red) parking brake input ).

    4) You are correct about the 6-Pin. Use the Metra AX-TOYUSB adapter to connect this USB port to the new KANOR head unit. DO NOT get the AX-TOYUSB-2 (with the "2" at the end). The adapter has not arrived yet, so I can't test it.

I have finished my installation and everything is functioning as they were originally including the factory back-up camera. I like the KANOR Head Unit with the Malaysk custom ROM. I connected an old iPhone 3gs (airplane mode) to the iPod connector and it works great.

The two USB connector functions very well. I tested it by connecting a USB PC 101 keyboard and it recognized it and functioned normally. The ELM327 (Bluetooth) connects quickly and is recognized by Torque Pro. I customized it by displaying the Throttle Position, Water Temperature, Fuel to Air Ratio and some other sensors. Pandora, PC Radio (streaming) works well with the Personal Hot Spot of my iPhone 6S+. The radio sounds good, and the reception, in my opinion is weaker than the stock radio (I hardly use the radio anyway).

I will be installing a matte finish screen protector to control the reflection. I will be changing the Dash Speakers (Polk Audio DB351 3.5-Inch). I might install an under the seat Kenwood Subs (KEN-KSC-SW11-1). I know that the door speakers need to be upgraded as well, but I will think about it.

What would it take to get one of these headunits on a Prius 3+?

I just ordered the pumpkin quad core.
My question is I'm going from the 2011 basic basic CD player set up.
Is wiring going to be hell since I've yet to have a screen in my car at all?
Or should the connections more or less be the same?

Edit: The photos on the sale listing showed a before and after photo from my current set up.
    So, fingers crossed?

Make sure that they send you the 4 connector (vs. 3 connector). They incorrectly sent me the 3 connector and I had to wait another 5-7 days.

The most complicated part of the install is getting the factory camera to work properly with the new android HU (that is if you have a bu camera).

Read through the posts here and you won't have any problems with your install.

The install is going to be very much easier w/o the camera. You still need the 4 connector for the steering control buttons to work.

    Which HU did you purchase?

Yeah. Messaged the seller to make sure.
    Thanks for the heads up.
How does everyone like their unit?
I saw Ncases complain about the audio quality but that was on an older version, right?

This arrived this morning just before work.

Quick question do the stock auxiliary and USB ports still work with this or will I need to install the ones they sent?

Looking to get one of these units, had a couple of questions:

    1. The Pumpkin units are inferior to the Aliexpress vendors in that they have a lower res screen, correct?
    2. Is it possible to view the rear camera on the fly within the unit without going in reverse?

    Thanks!

Or is there an aftermarket unit that could mirror my iPhone screen that also works with the factory backup camera?

Yes there are Head Units that work with the iPhone. Google "CARPLAY" or read this: CarPlay - Apple.

I don't think it has the same flexibility as the Android HU, but I am just guessing. I have not played around with CARPLAY even if my phone and tablets are all Apple products.
