    2) i meant prius.

    3) not in production.

    4) what other forums have ever been accepting of prius shapes?

    5) i think you're hearing ghosts.

:D I am hearing ghosts, Bisco is that you!!

Accord is only stopped for 2016, will be back as 2017 with some more improvements. I guess mainly to improve brake/regen transition.(that was one of the main complaints). Another is, it seems they had some issue with EMI/RF interference in Cell Voltage monitors which they fixed with software(which is not right fix in my opinion). But they got fundamentals right, and real world fuel economy seems to be close to 50.

Not sure what you meant No. 2,

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid has garnered very good reviews, and gets better mileage than Camry and Fusion it seems. Ride, braking, gearing everything seems very good. Has manual control mode over gears and let you take advantage of battery, or downshift more for over taking. So it seems best of both world. And it is available for purchase.

Malibu announced already, will be available as same time frame as Prius. Also, Volt power trains is proven, and their battery technology is also proven. (Reliability wise I would trust Chevy power train after Toyota for Hybrids)

Accepting prius shapes: of course its never been favorite shape for many, but now I hear chorus. Personally I think it looks better in person than in photos. Though I am not fan of new shape, but I am not offended by it either.

off late I am liking and Mazda and Hyundai for carrying their design across the model lines better than any other.

all good cars, i don't think anyone has equaled the prius yet though. we'll see how hyundai does. as a total company of hybrids, i don't think anyone is close yet. but i do believe that prius is about as good as they are going to get it, so others will slowly catch up if they choose to. by then, hopefully we'll be over the bridge and on the other side.

    btw, oil closed at $35.36:whistle:

and an mpg geek. nothing wrong with a small increase, plus more weight due to sound deadening, better seats and suspension.

Did I read correctly, that toyota's finally reigned in the BS factor on the mpg display?

Yeah, low maintenance, don't have to pay about $600 for those brake jobs with rotor refinishing on gas cars.

In 35 years with gas cars, I seemed to get by without rotor refinishing. It's just the latest wallet flush, most of the time.

This is great news! When fuel prices rise, people start to dump their SUV's and buy eco friendly vehicles. As long as fuel prices remain low for the next year, and they will, timing will be perfect to get the exact Gen 4 model you want without having to pay MSRP! :)

Prius is beaten every month in US sales of small and medium trunked sedans, Corolla, Accord, etc, even with high gas prices ... sedans offer more power and similar or more space for less money and drive in a way that is more familiar. Plus, there is value in a trunk: It offers secure (nothing will fly around your cabin in accident) and contents are hidden without having to open and close a pesky tonneau cover again and again. I've gotten many long items in trunks, including a 12 ft long (24 ft.) extension ladder. Hatchback if you must get the larger items in.

Unfortunately, Toyota has continued with 'futuristic' as the theme of the gen4 interior. I think it will draw in some new customers, but many more will be put off by its interior. Maybe Toyota actually wants to limit sales of gen4 Prius because perhaps materials that go into it are more rare. Don't know why they are so bent on futuristic interior except maybe they are swayed by hardcore hybrid fans during design phase.

    ---------------
to chinna above. New Accord Hybrid is a joke already. Very few want to spend a whole lot more money for something with a substantially reduced trunk and no pass through. Accord Hybrid in 2nd year is selling what, like 200 a month or so now? Half phased out and I guess coming back next year as a 2017? I would just buy a regular Accord.

...my wife prefers a real trunk...she would get a sedan every day. But she's got me to deal with,
