I bought a 2012 Prius Four with the JBL sound system a few months ago but I still have some problems with it that I'm trying to resolve. Whenever I play music over Bluetooth or the iPod connector from my phone or a friend's, I have to turn the volume up to 40-45 to get the same volume level that I'd get over AM/FM with at around 20 volume. This can be really jarring when I switch modes back to AM/FM. This is with the volume level on the phone all the way up, though I don't know if this matters. Does anyone know how to normalize the volume between inputs so that 20 is the same volume level for AM/FM/BT/iPod? Thanks.

I remember that on my former 2012 PiP, it had a memory setting for each different source input including volume, tone controls and balance adjustments. All of these where at the same settings at all times until modified. Similar to the phone volume control; all of this are independent from each other

I have noticed this with several podcast programs and some of the music I play on my 7th generation iPod Nano. Just like you, I turn the volume up. The Bluetooth input maintains its own separate volume level independent of the radio. If I turn up the volume for a music selection I just have to remember to turn it back down. The iPod usually defaults to a half volume setting when it syncs in Bluetooth so I have to roll up the volume on the player manually. If you use iTunes for your audio import to an iPod, there is a level adjustment for each particular cut (available in the right click menu, info) or you can change the global playback volume setting in the preferences menu. I think that setting only applies to content downloaded after it is adjusted, so for any existing material you will have to adjust manually. I haven't tried this yet myself, so I'm not certain that it works.

With my Galaxy S5 the phone runs "Bluetooth Audio Volume" like its a pair of headphones - automatically setting the volume low on my phone because it is afraid ill damage my ears haha. I have to keep turning up the volume on my phone and clicking OK on the high volume warning (so I actually have to log into my phone, i cant just pump up the volume through my pocket). I would check your device and see if it has an auto-limiter like this, as it may be the culprit.
