Sigh. I don't want to wait a year for the new PiP...
I sure hope the new PiP is improved more than the Gen III --> Gen IV.
I'd be happy with Gen IV if I needed to buy a new prius, but I don't. Just want to upgrade the old PiP.
With all this excitement about the regular Prius, I feel like I came to the wrong party.

Well we'll see if it's worth the wait. I am waiting for the Gen 2 PHV as well. I agree that if I needed a Prius, the Gen 4 works for me but as an upgrade from the Gen 3, I do prefer the features of the 2010 (some of which were removed for 2012) and will live with its flaws over the Gen 4 (like the noisier interior and poorer handling)

What features were removed for 2012?

Like you I have a 2010 and am not sure a trade for the Gen 4 is worth it (but I would like less road noise).

    • Plasmacluster ionizer filter (US only)
    • Water repellent front door glass
    • Intelligent Parking Assist
    • Leather (replaced with SofTex)

But on the plus side they added a 10-way power driver's seat (fore/aft, recline, seat height, seat tilt & lumbar) and HUD (US only) along with all the other 2012 improvements like more sound insulation and a higher resolution 5" MID screen which arguably is more useful than what was replaced.

I guess it depends if there's a market for a PHV family hauler.
