The Evoque feature is really cool. Even my iQ from 2009 has illuminated door trims (Camry style), so it is time for a step up. I would also like to see panoramic view monitor trickle down from Lexus, as well as the gesture based rear hatch opening feature.

I belive it's referring to the side markers up front and not mirrors.

After recently having one of the bulbs burn out on my C and the light costing $36 plus $120 for labor, I would be happy NOT to have those on my future vehicles. Luckily the dealership gave me the part for $25 and I have a handy friend, otherwise it would have stayed off for the rest of the time I own my C.

Thanks Tideland for getting this thread going... I feel that with all the fuss about Lane Change assistant/alert that a simple and inexpensive move of Toyota to add turn-signals to the side mirror assemblies should be default for all global markets. I feel it should be as mandatory as the backup cameras.

You find it in Europe and Japan because the govt. requires a "turnsignal repeater". It used to be a separate lamp on the front fender, just ahead of the door. Putting it in the mirror was "cool" and caught on. Where it is not required it is sometimes left off due to cost. -Some- cars come with it standard.
It appears the Prius is an economy car so it was left off for North America. Even the "cheap" Hyundais have it. Blushing yet Toyota US/Canada? ;)

Hmm, never had an indicator bulb blow. That seems expensive, especially considering it's USD. A foglight bulb is $20ish CAD.

Never mind Hyundai. Mazda has been beefing up their cars with equipment for nearly 10 years now. The Mazda3 has had automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers since it came out and for the 2nd gen added HIDs, AFS, Premium Audio (BOSE) and LED taillights. Of course, more recently added i-ELOOP, Mazda iSense Safety Suite, poor man's HUD (that flip-up plastic screen with a reflected monochromatic display)

when you don't have an expensive hybrid system, you can afford to put in some of these other options.

You can't buy the bulb alone, you need to buy housing piece containing the bulb. In order to replace it you need to pop off the mirror then the backplate of the side mirror to get to the piece. A buddy of mine with strong fingers replaced it for me in 3 minutes, but the dealership seems to think this labor should cost $120.

Also, mine went out on my 12 PriusC after about 3 years and 60k miles, which seemed pretty early for a bulb like that to go out.

    Wow. Jeez.

Well they have to charge a minimum and I thought it's usually 30 mins ($120 seems like they charged the full hour).

Yes. If you don't want to pay their labor, then do it yourself... Reminds me one time Toyota was going to charge me 109.00 parts & Labor to change engine and cabin air filter... Another Time, I was at Subaru, and they told a lady her battery was "starting to get low" and they could replace it for 289.95...and then 47.00 to replace a blinker light.... She said OK!
