I prefer to report fuelly numbers because they are based on lots of fill-ups and because they are odometer based numbers.

Any gas pump variations will even out as long as all fills are entered. I notice a variation in pump shut off points affecting the individual tank MPG significantly. When one fill is calculated to be high mileage, the next is going to be low. I assume, since this pattern is so repeated, the pump shut off on the first was quicker than the second. The overall fuelly MPG reported is accurate as individual variations are averaged and become noise.

I don't try to drive to achieve MPG other than sometimes keeping my speed moderate when I won't interfere with others who drive at higher speeds. I drive in 95 degree F temperature variations, 6F to 101F. A mix of 10 miles, 50 miles and 250 miles per start. 25 to 70 MPH. I don't get as high MPG as some report. But I do get ~EPA. And I do get 100+% better than my previous cars and the cost benefit of getting that improvement on regular gas.

    That is enough for me.

    Well done!

I split driving about 50:50 with my wife. She drives faster than me overall, and most of the miles are highway.

    Our last ~ 5200 miles:

I love it. As a previous owner of a C and a Persona,I was worried about the mpg of my v. I got mine on May 20 and I drive 90 miles a day (mostly freeway) - I average 46 mpg . I love it.

I purchased my 2015 v on May 20. I drive about 81 miles per day. I have about 1960 miles at this point. The best mpg I have recorded is 56mpg and the least, 37 mpg. I seem to record better times on my commute back to home: 57south/22west/405s in the afternoon than the morning commute of 605n/10east/57south !

Current Tank of gas, I'm averaging 57.0 mpg for 425 miles - with 2 kayaks on the roof - mostly local driving- I usually don't go over 40 mph. Without the kayaks, I'd be getting over 60-mpg.
On one tank back in the spring - I actually averaged 77 for 66 miles.

I'm 800 miles into mine so far, and my last tank got me 48.6 mpg, and that was with about 65% city driving and 35% freeway driving. No matter what, it's doing better than EPA numbers in any case. However, I do live on mostly flat land with very few hills, no mountains, or anything like that. Also, I'm almost sure those numbers are going to tank (pun intended) in the winter due to the vehicle having to warm up prior to it using the electric motor for low speeds.

7500 miles on my '14 and have gotten just over 50 mpg for last 3 tankfuls (true fill up calculated mpg), and at over 50 mpg half way through present tankful. Mix of city and highway (mostly 55-60 mph on highway runs).

2012 v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) 3, 42K mi, Michelin Energy at 38/36 psi. 40.2 mpg overall indicated.

My wife commutes 25mi each way to work, half city and half (congested) highway; and each summer we drive 800 mi with two canoes on the roof (which brings the mileage down to 32mpg!).

Other: this vehicle has met mileage expectations and was affordable because of the savings monthly in fuel. We drive a lot at over 30000 km/year. Very reliable car with one software recall update completed and regular maintenance, no problems at all so far!

Interesting couple of months. I've had to make mad dashes on the interstate, 72-75 mph. Headwinds back, cooler weather, rain.

I've had some miserable mileage lately 35-38.

Just got back from a 1610 mile trip to Texas. I kid you not when I say we had a headwind coming and going from these recent storms over the holidays. 2 adults, 1 child and V was loaded to the gills with the cruise set between 78-85 depending on conditions. We ran all the way from Mississippi border to Chattanooga @ 85 up interstae 20/59 to I-24.
    1610 miles
    43.796 gallons of fuel
    Averaged 36.76 miles overall.
Not bad overall, we were really killed by the constant 15-20mph winds and the rain we drove in both ways.
Our 2014 Elantra would do the same trip at the same speeds @ 38mpg but couldn't haul nearly the stuff we carried and we never made the trip in this kind of weather.
2015 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) Three (Not III)
    Blizzard White(fastest color)
32% tint all around 50% tint on front windshield
    Tires inflated to 40psi
Vehicle mileage is now just over 4000

Same here. I've owned the 2015 v since August and I've noted a consistent important gap between what the car MPG reads vs manually calculated on Fuelly.

Driving in Los Angeles, i averaged about 43-45.4 mpg per trip, I'm happy with that with the amount of cargo i get, and still being able to drive over 65mph with a smooth and steady drive.

    Bought in October 2015, now at 2300 miles, 175 miles/week, 25+/day.
    Mix of city driving 40-50mph
Highway driving of 65-75mph+ (In LA you have to drive much faster to stay with the flow of traffic)
During the break-in period before 1000 miles, i accelerated much slower and never went over 65mph.

The computer seems to display mpg at the current moment and at time it seems too optimistic bouncing to 60-99 mpg, which i know isn't accurate.

And counting each bar on the fuel gauge isn't accurate as well, since each bar does not equal to a fixed number of miles driven. Because often I can sometimes drive 100 miles before the first bar disappears, and I know I don't have another 900 miles to go, if so that would be awesome!

I trust the most accurate way to measure real mpg, is to manually calculate the miles driven per fill-up trip and divide by number of gallons purchased. I do so like this:
    1. Before filling up look at your odometer example: 1000 miles
    2. Record your previous Range meter as well example: 5 miles
    3. Then hold down the trip button to reset your trip meter to 0.
    4. Next buy 10 gallons of gas, if gas is at $2.80 buy $28.00 and fill up.
    5. Then drive as you normally would and keep driving till your range depletes back down to the previous range of 5 miles.
    6. On your second fill-up record your odometer example: 1455
    7. Then take 1455 miles subtract 1000 miles = 455 miles driven for that trip, your trip meter should reflect this or very close to this number, if it doesn't there maybe a problem with the trip meter.
    8. Your mpg for the trip would be = 455 miles divided by 10 gallons = 45.5 mpg
Each trip mpg is rarely the same, several factors affect them like weather temperature, number of commutes or a long road trip, and how fast your were driving on average.

Since the Prius v fuel tank is 11.9 gallons and in the Book Manual states that when the orange low gas light turns on that there is only 1.6 gallons left. Filling up when the orange light goes on and your range is at 5-12 miles is an accurate total if 10 gallons were to be purchased on top of the 1.6 gallons in reserve left would equal 11.6 + gallon capacity, without gasoline overflowing out of the tank.

I've driven my range down to 0, but quickly filled up. I wouldn't want to risk damaging the fuel tank if i had to drive several more miles past 0, even if 1.6 gallons in reserve is for emergencies in remote areas, allowing perhaps 50 more miles of driving, i've heard of other drivers doing this, if so i'd like to hear more or other calculations you use.

Just completed a 4000km Road trip with 5 people and additional luggage, including tent, weighing maybe 100kg extra. Total for the trip was 5.0l/100km (47MPG). Once again the car performed great even during floods in central NSW where the roads were very dangerous. I feel this standing water ate into my 'score' by around 0.2-0.3 l/100km. Used CC set at 115km/h and around a quarter of the journey was on United's 95RON E10.

What was your hand calculated mileage? The computer is far from accurate.
