Ok, instead of how far can you go on a single square block remaining, how far can you go before the FIRST block disappears? Me: [attachmentid=3323]
:| jeez. Longest I've went is 160kms. I wonder how fast your second bar will drop lol. Mine usually does it in 50km.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mystery Squid @ May 8 2006, 08:56 PM) </div> In my '06, the first bar has disappeared between 117 and 170 miles. The second usually disappears in 20-30 km.
I happened to be playing this exact game today! Actually, I thought maybe my computer was acting up and started to get nervous thinking the first "bullet" might not go away. But it did, finally, at 169 miles. I guess it was a good couple of days in the Northeast!
How is that possible??!! I drop a bar every gallon used, almost exactly to the ODO (so about avery 44 miles).
My first bar has been disappearing at around 100 miles. The rest seem to move much faster but IO haven't kept track of the interval.

I've had my Prius for just over 2 months and I am just having this experience on my current tank of gas. I am over 300 miles and not to half a tank yet. I've been getting around 500-525 gal/tank. Can you explain why the gauge is reading this way? Dazed and confused in GA! <_<

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PsyPrius @ May 8 2006, 10:38 PM) </div> OH MY GAWD!! AN ACCURATE GAS GAUGE!! I lose the first pip around 130 miles, then the others drop off every 25-35 miles.
I've lost the first pip anywhere between 90 and 150 miles...usually in the 115-125 mile range. Then the following pips tend to drop off at a much faster rate, perhaps 40-50 miles per pip, at most.
MS, I need to discuss with Danny whether you're authorized to post Prius content here. You were hired specifically to stir up Fred's. This informative and interesting Prius related post is clearly outside our contractual agreement. I have to ask you to cease and desist this deplorable posting until legal counsel can be contacted to look into possible further action. Thank you... !Oops, did this get posted publicly! :;-):

I'm on to your true evil plan Squid! This is a plot to prevent Prius owners from running out of gas. Everyone who reads it will fill up when there is one pip gone instead of one pip left in an attempt to surpass your picture. Did Toyota hire you to turn the mystery gauge into a feature? Very well done, but I'm not falling for it!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mystery Squid @ May 8 2006, 06:56 PM) </div> It depends on what station I fill up at. The local station will get me either 180 miles or 70 miles, depending on which fuel pump I use. Not that the fuel pump is innacurate, but the shutoff sure is...found that out some years ago when filling a can of gas to mow the lawn. I could see the gas hit the tip of the filler, but it wouldnt stop. <_<
I can only get 80-100 out of the first pip but I do not attempt to overfill the tank so I tend to wonder if the bladder will resist higher content if not stretched out on a consistent basis as it appears MS and a couple others do.....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Salsawonder @ May 9 2006, 02:30 PM) </div> When I first got my car ( over a month and a half ago now ), the first pip lasted for about 150 miles. This was over 4 tanks of gas. Recently, I had to refill at a different pump at the same station...the pump I usually filled up at was broken. Now, the gas gauge is going down in a more linear fashion, taking about 45 miles per pip, which is a pretty close match to the displayed MPG of 44.7. Now, I havent finished with this tank, yet, so this is preliminary info. I am just wondering if other tanks where the pip lasts > 150 miles are actually overfilled....
