Hello I have a Prius Persona 2015.The audio is very basic. It does not have the JBL system which comes with 4 and 5. I am thinking that I should have gone with the Gen 4 having JBL.
But may be I can get the same or better quality as JBL from after market and save a ton of money too.

Has anybody upgraded the Audio on the Prius, what would you recommend?

Discussed many, many times. Yes, you can easily surpass what the JBL has to offer by more basic changes including replacement of the dash and front door speakers, and an aftermarket amp with in-line inputs while keeping your existing head unit. Further upgrades would be to add a sub (but that takes up room), DSP, and better rear door speakers.

I have a 2015 II, and ditched the terrible factory items for a Alpine 10inch navi/headunit, with an integrated Prius faceplate, on JL 300.3, powering a front pair of focal flax 6.5"s, with a JL shallow TW12 sub in the spare tire well. All together it pulls about 350 watts at full tilt, which is within the range of the Prius' inverters bandwidth

IMO, the Prius is an amazing package for audio builds as the cabin is very quiet at speed

I was planning to get the installation done from Best Buy.But first I have to select the In-Dash unit and speakers too.

If someone wants to upgrade good speakers without going to too much technical details, I did replace mine last week.I had JL Audio C2 installed all around. Model: JL Audio C2-690x on the front and JL audio C2-650x on the rear.
Very happy with the speakers, high end, but had good deals going on.
My local car audio shop did the installation as well.

I kept the same Toyota Entunes headunit.Just got the speakers replaced.

I'm in the process of doing this now, replacing all 6 speakers. Based on what you noted, you didn't add an amp. I just replaced the dash and front door speakers and I already feel the doors speakers can really use some power to increase the mid range. After replacing the dash speaker, the vocals are quite bright! Also I sound dampened the front door which reduces road noise and improves sound.

No I didn't go for the Amp.They need to install it underneath the seat and put a sub in the trunk.Which will decrease your cargo space

The factory JBL amp is actually underneath the seat. Then if you place the sub under the trunk floor or in the spare area like the Euro model, there will be almost no loss of space. But if the system sounds good enough for you then no need. For me after swapping the fronts speakers, the lack of enough power to the speakers is obvious.
