Hi all...well, I'm on this forum now...just purchased a 2013 Prius Two, not II because only 2010 used uppercase Roman numerals for model designation, w/17,000 miles...one owner. I have a 2008 Prius with just over 200k miles...runs like it has 20k. I was intending to keep the 2008 (which I really like) for "the long haul" as it has NEVER given me any trouble. It's been well maintained and runs great (also only uses about 1/2 qt. of oil between 5,000 mile changes with high mileage synthetic). The original owner of the 2008 cared for it well (as have I). There's a long story about how I came to own the 2008...but it has turned out to be a great car.

I was "just looking" around and discovered this 2013 at a local dealership (I bought a car from them about 5 years ago...not a Prius). The price seemed too good to be true...particularly with the low mileage. After searching prices on comparable models I was convinced it was a good price (searched metro area prices for Milwaukee, Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland...both dealerships and private owners). Their price was $2,500 less than anything else I could find with mileage that low. I drove over yesterday and took a look at it...and then a test drive...and the rest is history. I had never driven a Gen III Prius before...as good as the Gen II are the improvements were pretty obvious...I loved it...and bought it.

I'm probably going to keep the 2008 for my nephew who will start driving in July (will have to arrange to drive it periodically...). I'm going to have a LOT of questions about the "new" car but this is the first one.

I have a set of winter tires size 195 65 15 on the 2008 (decided to go with the larger size when I put them on in November) and obviously want to transfer them to the 2013 (same tire size...the original Ecopia tires are on it now). I took a look at the wheels and wheel covers on the new car and don't like them at all. I've seen the black wheels under the wheel covers and am not a big fan of that look either (the car is red).

Could I consider transferring the wheels off the 2008 to the 2013...tires and all? I've never seen a Gen III with Gen II wheels but frankly like them better...plus it would be cheaper to transfer them than have to have the tires swapped on the wheels for 2 cars. My budget doesn't have any room for new wheels and I can't justify the expense. I did look up the wheels for both cars and the size, bore and offset appear to be identical. I don't know if there would be a clearance issue due to the disc brakes on the rear of the 2013 vs. the drums on the 2008.

What do you think?...lame idea?...looking for advice from the experts here.

When I got my new rims for my Gen 3, I sold my wheels and tires to a guy at work for his Gen 2. He had no problem with fitment, plus he liked the look of the black rims.
