I hope the guy that bought my gray Prius C four with white wheels from Fremont Toyota in CA sees this.

Your totalled nearly $200 of bridge evasion tolls under my name and I hope the state slams you when the get your info....which they will because I'm working with them to update all the info from the transfer of liability back in Oct.

At least learn how to cross a bridge ligit...no FastTrak responder means take your sorry self through the cash lane.

    Loser.

    Edited for language.

Apparently I got screwed by DMV and some loser who should no better...Teo months of crossing the bay bridge and he's never paid. He knows he should be paying and should have contacted FastTrak when he wasn't getting bills.

First three are in the mail to be contested and then I got three more today.

Now I'm just pissed that I totally babied that car for this to happen. Hope he has bad dreams about sausages....that turkey.

Hope everones C is treating them well and his crap out.

that's brutal! when we sell our cars, we keep the plates, and turn them into the insurance company, or move them to the next vehicle. no way would the next owner get them.

Unless we have custom plates or a few other reasons our plates stay on the cars in CA.

I haven't lived in California for about 13 or so years, but I will freely admit that I do not miss having to take a full day off of work to go to the DMV! What a joke that place is and I wish you all the best sorting out your mess.

And yeah Its been so long I just about forgot that the plates stay with the Car in California.

I thought you are released of all liability once you take off that top portion of the "pink slip" and mail it to the dmv?

    Plates stay with the car?!?!
    Really???

License plates aren't a new technology. Like Harleys, they've been around since 1903.

    California is just weird......

this is a super dumb rule. probably worth getting vanity plates before sale just to avoid this nonsense.

You do. the problem is that the paperwork is usually months behind so when something like this happens the onus is on the seller to prove that the vehicle wasn't in their possession when the violations happened. This happened to me years ago when a car I had sold was running up unpaid parking tickets. I had to go to the courthouse with my copies of the signed pink slip and then the judge quickly cleared my name. Not sure if they ever caught up with the deadbeat new owner, I doubt it.

If I lived in Caly I don't know if I could afford to drive....
FORTUNATELY (both for me and the Golden State!) I won't be finding out.

It's a bit chilly now in the SF Bay Area location but can't complain when I hear my coworkers in Denver talking about 10" of snow.

I have a tacoma now. Needed a truck, but miss my C. I see one everyday and say to myself "there's my car". The C is a great car...loved that it's comfortable and reliable. I sure wish they make more accessories and aftermarket parts for it....there's such a market and demand.

I would rate it as one of my top three cars I've ever owned.

Yeah...our DMV is horrible. They take forever and don't care. I want a job were no personality is needed. I get they are busy, but on the other hand they chose to work there.

Now I'm waiting for my paperwork to reach the FastTrak office in San Francisco and to see if they will resolve with the DMV or if I get to carve out time to spend the day filing paperwork.

I always pay my bridge tolls right when I get the bill, so irks me that this could affect my liscense and all the hassles that come with non payment.

At least today I'm a little more resolved...just needed to rant.:D
