Liability only stops upon the DMV gets the sale notice from you the original seller. Thats why its best to go to the DMV with the buyer and get it ALL settles once and for all. Just signing over the title doesn't do that or shield you from liability from the sale.

 

There are plenty of aftermarket parts for the C. It is the best selling car in Japan for 4 years now. You just need to search on E-Bay, Amazon and several Japanese sites.

 

Sorry, we don't have anything like that in Alabama. Is this system based upon a transponder in the car or something else?

Based on a transponder in the car and it also reads the license plate when you go through the toll booth to cross check. The same transponders are used on toll roads in Southern California, so they aren't just for bridges. I think some parking lots are also letting you use them for payment too.

 

We have EZ Pass on along the 95 corridor.

 

In CA, you file a transfer of ownership form to the DMV immediately after the sale. Then you won't get any liability after the sale.

 

manhattan still has a bridge with no toll takers, that will be happy to snap a pic of your plate and send a bill in the mail.

 

The Golden Gate Bridge did the same thing a couple years ago. If you have a transponder it charges your account, if you don't you get a bill in the mail. If you pass some predetermined threshold of crossings per month and don't have a transponder you'll be firmly asked to get one.
