Hi all, first post here. Been checking out this great forum the past month and doing research on a new Prius. I test drove a 4 touring last week and really liked it. I read that the 17" tires can cause a decrees in gas mileage so now I'm thinking of going with a 4 with ATP.

Can anyone that has a 4 with the moonroof comment on the head room? The head room seemed fine in the 4T I test drove though worried it might be a little less with the moonroof. I'm at tall guy at 6'3 so if any other tall drivers can comment I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, looking forward to getting my new Prius soon!

6 foot. I have the Four with the moonroof. I'm fairly certain you won't have an issue.

Overall I think you'll be fine. As you note the non-moonroof models have plenty of headroom. Noticing that the new moonroof slides on the inside vs. outside and thus would eat up some of that room, I've sat in two so far to double check.

When I first sat in a 3 with the moonroof (same as 4), my head was 1/4 inch from the roof and felt a bit tight. Straightening my spine, my head touched. But the seats have a lot of adjustment. If you don't mind sitting low you should fit fine. This will reduce rear legroom behind the driver seat. Egress to the rear seat is difficult but not impossible, And I do fit behind behind my virtual self. However I have shorter legs and a tall torso. So I doubt you'll be able to toggle between sitting in front or rear without changing the position of the front seat.

With the cover open, it did feel like there was a bit more room to spare, but for the front of the head. I'll have to playa bit more, but I believe the opened cover was still above my head eating into the space. Back seat occupants shouldn't have a problem as the cover takes up mostly the space above their legs.

That said, moon/sun roofs open up the interior and make it feat larger and less confined, when quite the opposite is in fact true.

As always, try before you buy. Perhaps pick a dealer with both a 4 and 4T you like and drive them both.
