    Greetings,

Recently, I have been having some acc. battery problems with my Prius. I have taken to charging it once a month in the winter. When the battery is low, I can't open the rear hatch (obviously). Yesterday, I was unable to open the rear hatch even though the car was currently RUNNING.

Is it likely to be a switch failure? Fuse failing? Which fuse is it that controls the rear hatch?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you kindly.

try pulling up from the bottom of the hatch (metal part, don't pull up on the handle). You should be able to hear the hatch unlatch when you press the switch/button. If it doesn't go up, just pull up on the metal part of the hatch while your finger is pressing the switch to open

I do not think the rear hatch release works when the Prius is READY. Try it when the car is IG-OFF and the 12V battery is fully-charged.

My 2007 Pruis has been running since I got home from work yesterday about 7:00 p.m. I did notice my dash lights did not come on durning my drive home. But my biggest issue is my car not turning off so I can get the key. I took the metal key and lock the doors. My car has been running all night. How do I shut the car off?

Hold the POWER button down for several seconds, until the electronics turn off.

The root cause of your problem is that the combination meter assembly has failed and needs to be replaced. Do a search for that on PC to learn more.

Also, please do not post your question at the end of a thread which is unrelated to your issue.

Toyota offered a nine-year warranty extension on the combination meter. Depending on the in-service date of your car, that warranty will expire sometime this year, or may already be expired. I had mine replaced last month on my '07, one month before expiration. You or a dealership can do a VIN search and find out if your car is still covered, but don't delay.

If you're not covered, there are repair options covered in other threads as Patrick mentioned above.
