Sometimes while driving my 2012 Prius Plug In I hear a faint ding ding ding about every 3 minutes, it is quite suttle but I can't see any other messages or icons light up, what' with this?

Ringing in your ears? Actually, if you have the radar-equipped model, it might be the pre-collision warning triggered by driving down a hill with a sharp rise at the bottom or around a tight corner next to stationary objects fast enough to make the car think you are heading towards an obstacle. I get a "beep-beep-beep-beep" (four short beeps) when that happens. But that wouldn't be at a regular interval as you suggest.

I think I have figured it out, whenever I have my cell phone in the car the ding ding ding happens and when I leave the phone home I no longer get the dings! Very annoying, so I can't have my cell phone with me in the car? Bummer....... Maybe I'll keep in the rear as I think it is a reaction between my smart key and the cell phone, they are trying to talk with each other.
