hello all, haven't popped on in a while, the car has been functioning flawless, just change the oil and gas it up, until today, long story but the short version, picked up stored code p0121.

looked it up and it hints to the throttle position sensor or its circuit, now I don't have an official service manual and some threads I just read hint towards the pedal sensor for this code also, that almost seems to be in error, and also some threads I came across hint toward having to replace the entire throttle body, as the sensor itself is not designed to be replaced, again not sure what to make of that either, I looked at mine and looks like any other TPS held on by 2 screws.

any of you dealt with this or have a service manual?
and if it comes to it, what was the name of that prius specific salvage yard in Indiana I believe, I know they frequented this forum, If it comes to an entire tb I'd rather call them, the local parts store showed dealer only

    Blue,

I sent you a link to zip archives of the Maintenance manual in a PM. Good luck.

yeah that's the guys I was thinking of, as for the serviceability if any of you are curious, I came across this TB cleaning
apparently they are extremely serviceable, however the dealers pretend they are not, came across a couple old threads where folks ended up with a $1300 bill for a new TB, I found sensors online anywhere from $15 shipped direct from alli express to $70 or so, bet the dealer will be even more if they would even sell you one, from what I heard the norm is they are not serviceable and you need a new TB
good thing is I have spare cars if it comes to it I don't mind the downtime

Thanks for the manual, sure cleared up a lot, it basically points to the throttle position sensor, car seems fine now but something definitely happened I'll have tear into it and either clean up and grease the TB and/or get a new sensor

Its not a sensor issue. The sensor is working fine....it's reporting the tb butterfly is not moving.

The problem is the tb throat is rusted and the butterfly is not moving smoothly in the bore. Its getting stuck on the bore crud or rust. Probably because the tb thoat has never been cleaned. And the spring loaded side is the return spring for butterfly to reset the butterfly to close when no motor control. That has to kept greasy and lubricated.

Look in the throat and see how bad it is. Many many posts on how to clean it.
