I traded in my 2004 on a 2006 and generally like all of the new features, but there is one annoying thing. In my 2004 the energy screen was the default, but in the 2006 the consumption screen is the default. Is there a way to change some setting to make the energy screen the one that comes on first?

I asked the samething when we got our '06. The answer is you can't. Have never seen a reason why it was changed either. Maybe someone got into a Prius crash and sued Toyota because they were watching the MFD rather than the road, so Toyota decided to default to a less "dynamic" display.

Sorry but I think the consumption screen is far more useful to adjust driving habits than the energy screen!
The goal is to see that yellow bar at 100 as long as possible!

That's odd. The Energy screen is the default on my 2006 Prius. I wonder why the Consumption screen is the default for others.

I cannot find any reference to setting the energy screen as the default.

I have the EV function installed. So actually having Consumption as default is good since the EV switch switches the screen to Energy when activated. That way, I know the EV mode is on.

Huh? How are you defining default?

Both Multi-Displays in my 2004 (original and TSB replacement) have always retained their setting, no revert ever takes place. And I'd most definitely notice if it did, since I prefer the Consumption Screen. Having to switch over to that every time I pushed the power button would be a pain.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It sounds like I’m stuck with the present configuration. It’s not like I don’t find the consumption screen useful, it’s just that I like to see the energy screen most of the time and it is annoying that it won’t stay on that setting from one trip to the next. Every time I start the car the screen reverts to the consumption screen.

All you need to do is to press the button on the steering wheel and you can toggle back and forth between those two screens. How easy is that???? You can also view the MAP as well.

    SIMPLE!!!!!
