I had a Beat-Sonic after-market plug and play harness installed that allows my navigation screen to “mirror” my iPhone. At the same time. I also had a switch installed that will override the lockout of entering data while the car is in motion.

I promise to not drive distracted. I promise!

I've seen that function on android/samsung over the last 4 or 5 rev's too. Just what I need - increase my OCD.

When the phone image is mirrored, does the touch screen relay the touch's back to the phone ?

Can you share with us more information on these two different products? I am very interested in each. Thanks, Eric

The "mirroring" is accomplished by use of plug and play harnesses that physically attach the iPhone from its lightening port to the NAV screen through a series of powered transitional steps. The screen will then mimic the iPhone’s display - in the landscape or portrait mode it shows on the phone. (It adds an A/V icon to the “mode” choices) In a true “video” input such as YouTube, the screen recognizes the signal and “transfers” it from the phone to the NAV screen in the landscape mode.

The switch simply “turns off” the input lockout for entering data into the touchscreen or steering wheel data input controllers. It interrupts the GPS function temporarily and so the car’s navigation is stagnant while the switch is “on”. The switch will also allow the “mirroring” function to operate while the car is in motion.

Great - any info on how to obtain one of either, if one were so interested? :)

Danny said that PriusChat shop will be carrying them - otherwise I would contact direct through the Beat-Sonic web site.

I spent my lunchtime today sitting in my Prius at work watching the opening day baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers on my Navigation Screen (Mirrored from my iPhone MLB App) Thanks to Beat-Sonic!

Yes - no issues. The picture was not as sharp as it would have been on the iPhone, but clear nontheless.

Do you by chance happen to know the actual items that would need to be purchased to do the cell phone mirroring. I was able to find the lock out device on Beat Sonic, but unsure what is needed for phone mirroring. Thanks!

No. I was told that some of the items were available on Amazon.com, but some were proprietary.

I see that this is now available on Prius Chat. I've seen the videos, and it looks pretty slick. What I'd really love it for would be the ability to use Waze or Google Maps.

My question is this: If you're mirroring something like Waze or Google Maps while driving, are you "committed" to the audio from your phone? Or, in other words, can you listen to the Audio from the radio or USB drive while having Waze or Google Maps mirrored up to the display?

    Thanks,
    Eric

The mirroring overrides the ability to use the on-board radio or USB becasue you have to select A/V as input. I will check to see if you can listen to music from the phone while using Google Maps - I think that is available.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread Kevin. But I was wondering, do you have a photo of how you managed the Lightning cable that comes out from the dash? I emailed Sam from Beat Sonic and he suggested to leave it as such, but if one IS so inclined, one could drill in the dash for a more OEM look. Just wondering what you went with.

I'm on a business trip. I'll be home and post a photo or t
The BeatSonic cord exits from the passenger side of the lower center dash. I added an extension so that I could have more movement with my phone. I snaked the cord across the dash toward the driver side and hold that portion of it in place with a couple of clips. I have a magnetic iPhone holder on the right hand center vent. (Couldn't take a photo of the phone mount because I needed the phone camera)

Hey @krmcg , is your head unit screen while mirroring washed out too? For instance, the green on Google maps is a dark shade on my phone and shows up light green on the screen. Is the Text fuzzy for you too? I see you have the Prius Two, so that's with the non JBL, non Navigation head unit like mine.

I am trying to figure out if this is a problem with just my unit or because the head unit is non-HD.
