I replaced my wheel bearing the other day so I had to take my brakes off. When I got done I started the car and my emergency break light, ABS light, ((!)), lights came on and also my ABS brakes are not working. There is a lot of pressure on the peddle and If I have to stop quickly forget about it.

I know there are a lot of posts on here with this similar problem but I have yet to find anyone with a solution. Just as a side note I did break the bolt for the speed sensor. I went to my local hardware store and bought the same size bolt and no harm was done so I don't see how this could have caused the problem.

Also another side note that might be attributed to it: I was trying to get the car to shift into neutral when I was changing the hub. I put the key in and pushed on the brakes and turned the car on for a minute with one of the calipers off. No air got in the system and it did push the caliper but the piston never came close to popping out of the sleeve.

I also just replaced my transmission myself and everything went smoothly but this problem happened about a week before I did this so I know it wasn't the transmission change that did it.

As of right now my brakes work but it is not safe to drive. Thanks in advance for any help.

Seems like it could definitely be the problem. So how would I go about re calibrating my system. I definitely do not want to take it to a dealer to do this. They are going to charge me more than what it cost me to replace my whole transmission. lol

There are calibration options in techstream. You can buy the MINIVCI cable and techstream on Amazon for about $25 and it'll run off a windows laptop.

So after spending all weekend attempting to get techstream to work on my windows 10 computer I was unable to do it. Even after following every instruction page online. I finally got it installed and working on windows 10 after many hours but then when I attempt to hook it up to the car it wouldn't read it. Luckily I had an old windows Vista 32bit laptop that I finally busted out and got working. If I didn't have this computer I would have had to run a virtual system on my windows 10 computer with windows xp. I think this is probably the easiest and quickest way for anyone who wants techstream in the future.

Anyways after resetting memory and re-calibrating system I still have the problem. The brakes do actually work better but they are still not working correctly. I am getting error code C1345 saying Linear Valve Offset Learning. From what I have researched online it seems that I need to replace my ABS Brake Actuator. These are really expensive!!!

Does this seem right if everything was working fine before I took my brakes off?

Why would this go bad for no reason?

Before doing this I am going to check my battery to make sure it's giving out the proper voltage and I think I am going to bleed my brakes and recalibrate again.

Does anybody else have any ideas?

    1. You can buy a used brake actuator on eBay for $200 or so. Also check autobeyours.com
    prius brake actuator | eBay

    2. Certainly, the 12V battery must be fully-charged and in good condition before you attempt to perform the pedal stroke sensor zero point calibration, then initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration.

    3. You say there is "no reason" for these problems. You did not disconnect the 12V battery prior to working on your brakes. The physical shocks associated with replacing the wheel bearing and the piston being partially dislodged from the caliper logged skid control ECU fault codes. The unusual displacement of the caliper piston may have damaged the brake actuator as an unusual amount of brake fluid passed through the actuator solenoid for that wheel.
