If Miller is no longer offering those boffo deals, VA/MD/DC residents should check out CarMax in Laurel, MD. They have new Prii for $1,000 under MSRP.

Are you sure what you got was a new 2006 model? Their website says they only have used ones.

Last Saturday Sarah said she CAN deal out-of-state again, but currently at MSRP. I highly recommend them!

And so do I. Best dealership experience ever in 29 years of buying new cars. Picked mine up Saturday.

I bought mine in January from Fitzgerald Auto Malls (http://www.fitzmall.com) for well under MSRP. They have fixed pricing, like CarMax, for all their vehicles, and they are happy to deal out-of-state. I know they have HH's in stock near invoice price and Prius' in stock slightly under MSRP. You can check online for their inventory and exact pricing.

If you choose to buy from them, please mention that you were referred by Shalom Lewis.

I didn't buy my '06 from CarMax in Laurel, but yes, I am sure that they sell new cars. Go to the CarMax web site and look for the "NEW CARS" tab at the top of the page. Click on it.

You'll be given the option of searching the new car listings for two dealerships -- one in Laurel, MD that serves Washington DC/Baltimore and one in Kenosha, WI that serves Chicago/Milwaukee.

I checked the Laurel location's listings today and they don't show any new Prii at the moment, so you'll probably want to call ahead and talk to one of their salespersons. When I was car-shopping back in Februray, the only Prii listed online had already been sold, but when I talked by phone to a salesperson he knew about several Prii that were on their way to the Laurel CarMax from the shipping dock in New York that did not yet have a customer's name on them. The salesman said he could put my name on one of those cars, without even putting me on a waiting list. That may have changed now that gas prices -- and Prius demand -- are back up. But it's certainly worth a call because even when demand is high and supply is low, CarMax remains a discounter as a marketing strategy.

I ended up going with Alexandria Toyota because they had the color I wanted at only a slightly smaller discount, but the best price was with the Laurel CarMax. And their discount helped me negotiate my bargain at Alexandria.
