LED Lightbar on a 2008 prius

Question: I want to put that bar light on my car I have an 04' would it work on that does anyone know?

 

hmmm I'm not so sure
I been thinking about replacing the fog lights with round LED fitments as daytime running lights
I guess that leaves me open to being pulled over (its a $320 fine here for using fogs in non fog conditions)
and having to demonstrate to the cop on the spot that these aren't the fog lights he's looking for

sounds like a plan anyway

 

I have mine hooked up to the foglight switch on the left stalk ....I do get hi-beamed every once and a while .....and it is soooo worth the install makes the factory lights look like dim flashlights

 

HI thanks for the reply! My model doesn't have fog lights and I need some extra light on the street I feel the headlights don't do much specially since I'm tinting my windshield darker, but what brands for this light LED bar do you recommend?

By the way I live in NY I'll find out how the law here is about having LED light bars, hopefully I'll be alright, these lights are needed since I also do lots of night driving.

I originally started off with this $75 32" Curved 180W "CREE" LED light bar. It had both spot and flood leds. Mounting was simple and wiring was quick. It looked ok...





But i was unsatisfied with the beam pattern and power output so I sold it for $100 to a local and bought a $125 32" 300W Philips "4D lensed" Curved LED light bar.







I'll try to get an output shot someday. It's pretty bright. Definitely worth the price difference. I'm sure both the wattage increase with addition of the optic lens for focusing the light made the difference. I even passed Alberta out of Province inspection with this light mounted....

 

Just to give you an idea... this is just my 8" led reverse light.

 

WOW!!! mine is only 24" and 120watts and lights up the night ...Justdidit 300watts?!?!?! pity the fool who high beams your prius!!

 

I've been thinking about buying this same Philips lightbar; now that you have had it awhile, what is your overall opinion? I like how nicely it fits behind the lower grill, are there any disadvantages with this arrangement? What about airflow obstruction of the inverter cooler?

Speaking about LED lightbars, I would like to mount a reverse lightbar so I can utilize my back camera even at night, what lumen rating is your lightbar in the picture above? It looks awesome!

The 300W Philips was definitely worth the price difference. Feel the beam is better too. Hopefully I can find time to post pics but I'm working on a new fog light retrofit in the mean time. As far as mounting it anywhere else or any airflow restrictions, I haven't tried or noticed my temps going up over normal.

My rear was a DDM 30W 8" SP LED bar rated at 3600 lumens.

Was very bright but the beam was more spot than flood. Flood was what I was looking for. Recently swapped it for a 13" 60W 4800 lumen rated Flood. Will post output pix of that as well. Threw in an additional switch which allows me to turn the back LED bar at random if needed without putting the car into reverse.

Besides buying the 300w Philips (30,000 lumen), I'll be on the lookout for a similar 4,800 lumen flood for a reverse light.

I probably will have cause to ask about wiring of the lightbars, but I'll hold off until I need to.

 

hello, may i ask how did u connect the power source on 300w ones? by the jump-start terminal or wire to the rear 12V battery? your answer would be much appreciated since i cant find the info elsewhere
