Is there a source, besides dealer, for 2012 roof-top Satellite antenna? Mine has gone defective. Dealer thinks I am crazy enough to fork over $750 for the fix or $185 for the antenna/booster and do my own install.

It's the Satellite antenna on the roof of the Prius-the black pod where the AM/FM stick antenna is also located.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I just replaced the "Antenna Assembly" (Toyota's name for the black blob base that the spiral-wound AM/FM antenna screws into) on our 2011 Prius. This blob also contains the antenna for the SiriusXM antenna in our Gen 3 Prius. It's located just forward of the AM/FM antenna element.

Our Satellite reception was wonderful until the car was about three years old, and then it began to degrade slowly and steadily to the point of uselessness. We haven't been able to get any sort of satellite reception for months.

After removing the Antenna Assembly from the roof (requires getting up above the headliner from the rear hatch), I disassembled the base by removing the five #1 phillips-head screws from the bottom side. The "corners truncated patch antenna" for the satellite radio looked funny (the strange kind) to me, and under a microscope the metal of the plated-on antenna element appeared to have "flaked away" along its outer edges, changing the dimensions in both the X and Y axes of the antenna.

At the suggestion of our favorite mechanic at the local Toyota dealer, I replaced the Antenna Assembly, part number 86960-47011, at a parts cost of about $130 plus tax. (I did the labor.) Now our satellite radio works perfectly! I don't know if the 2011 and 2012 model years use the same Antenna Assembly, but it's hard to believe that the parts price would be that different between the two years unless there have been some major changes.

    Hope this helps!

Hey can you confirm something? 2011 Prius part number 86960-47011 is registering as the HOLDER on some dealer sites but on others it is listed as the AMPLIFIER. On the diagram illustration those are two completely different things.

To be sure, you replaced the holder? I have the same XM issue with my Prius as you do and want to sort it out next week.

    Thanks!

Same problem here. I have an antenna that came with a portable radio and am looking at using it with my 2010 prius. Is there an adapter for the round plug on the antenna so it will fit the Prius?
