My original 17" Toyo tires are noticeably wearing out after only 25k miles and it appears to need replacement soon. I can probably drive for another 5 to 8 k miles but the edges may be bald by then. I looked at the Toyo replacement tires and the exact ones are actually quite expensive at over $200 each which means they may be in the performance tire category. For a Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon), not sure this vehicle warrants this type of tire. I will be looking for a longer lasting tire for replacement and not necessarily performance tires.

Our OEM Toyo Proxes A20 17" tires are 'like new' at 22,000 miles. If the edges on yours are wearing out, you either have an alignment issue or under-inflation (or you are driving it like you stole it - LOL). What tire pressures do you run at? What mpg?

I have been servicing the car at the dealer so far (just had my last one at 25k miles so I assume they maintained the tires at factory standard pressure. My mpg has been ok (around 42ish overall) with very average driving overall. Strangely the tires looked great until I hit 25k miles and then the wearing on the treads became very noticeable.

If the edges are worn, they are under-inflated. Don't assume the dealer ever checked them or that they set them appropriately. .

The tire treads are wearing out overall and not just the edges. Just that the edges are wearing out a little more than the rest of the tires. Think the factory warranty for these tires is only 30k miles unlike Michelin's. The Toyo tires are also not very quiet anyways. Will probably look for longer lasting and quieter tires.
