Nothing much happens over a weekend. Ask the shop that has custody of the car for an estimate.

The insurance situation in BC is very different. Whenever we take a hit, what happens:

    1. Phone ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia). They take your info, description of the accident, any info you have on the other party(s), and they give you a number.

    2. Head over to your preferred body shop, give them the number provided by ICBC. Very typically they have been vetted by ICBC, are authorized to assess the damage and provide ICBC with a report. I've never heard of this being disputed by ICBC; at any rate it's all between the body shop and ICBC.

    3. Body shop proceeds with repair. Meanwhile ICBC reaches a decision regarding who was to blame for the accident. If it's you, or 50/50, you cut the body shop a cheque for the deductible, we've opted for $500 (the highest/cheapest level). If the other party's to deemed to blame, you don't have to pay anything.

Making an at-fault claim will raise your rates, but as long as you're not a frequent offender it's very reasonable, maybe the rates go up $20~30 for a few years.

    And the winner is...
    $16,175
That's the body shop estimate. That doesn't include anything engine- or computer-related.
Still won't know for a day (at least) what insurance plans to do.

That might even go up, as they get into it more. Especially "wheel stuff": might turn into drivetrain and suspension stuff.

I would consider this totaled since it cost more than half the value of the vehicle. Plus that's just an estimate of the outside, I wonder if anything else is wrong on the inside such as the ecu since it's right there by the glove compartment.

So it's pretty close to being totalled. Not bad if you can get paid for it and buy it back for $3000. It really doesn't look that bad

You'll be happy that you have State Farm. I don't work for them, but they've treated me right.

There are 5 Threes on cars.com with asking prices below that. 11 reds between $18959 and $22111.

Start documenting selling prices for cars with comparable mileage.

    Hey, I'm betting on totaled.

Doesn't take too much to create a WHOLE lot of cost in terms of body shop repair, and with all the airbags being deployed?

Sacrifice the car, save the occupant. You can't absorb the energy of a collision by being rigid. And it works; auto fatalities per mile driven have fallen tremendously.

But I do understand what you're saying...
